Well I know there is a debate on whether or not you can/should drive up to the trail head and you could if you go slow but I wouldn’t recommend it, unless you like to bottom your car out when hitting pot holes and large rocks. I have a Honda Civic and parked in a small lot right before it turns into a dirt road and hopped in my friends huge truck to get there.

But! The hike was amazing and we did it for a sunset hike because the views where incredible once you hit the top part of the incline! We didn’t reach the lake because we found the perfect spot to watch the sun set (approximately 1.75-2 miles from the trail head) see pictures

Don’t listen to the Prius guy below. The road is rough at parts but DEFINITELY drivable, you just have to go slow...like every other car. I even saw a few Prius’ (is Prii the plural

Rancheria Falls was our destination from the dam. It was a beautiful trail had we not had extreme heat. We found various mileage resources that differed. Fitbit tracked this as 15 miles. It took much longer than anticipated but the falls were beautiful. Disappointed that there were no points of entry to water at any of the fall areas as it was needed in the heat. Mark this as a long difficult trail in summer.

Got eaten by mosquitoes. Bring bug spray. Footbridge to the campsite is down, had to go upstream to wade through the Creek or walk across a fallen tree (not Tuolumne River but Conness Creek). The creek crossing wasn’t bad, but care must be taken.

Really nice hike, not too rough. There was still a lot of snow on the trail, but not so much that we couldn't get through it. It was really chilly at night. In the middle of the summer it'll be perfect for swimming. Definitely will return!

Wonderful first backpacking spot for the kids. Lots of folks out on Labor day weekend, but not so many it wasn't fun.

Did this as an out and back long day hike. Great falls and views along the way. On warm/hot days be prepared for many exposed areas and bring lots of water. Completely worth the effort.

First hike...amazing views ...well worth the trip

our very first hike in 2004 to mark 1 year breast cancer free took awhile but i finished great day

Gate opens at 7, closes at 9pm. All trails just opened. Falls amazing!! This is a tough, rewarding hike. Be in good shape.

Amazing first backpacking trip. From the backpackers parking lot to camp we logged about 7mi, so round trip including waterfall exploring was about 15mi. If the falls are raging, as they were on May 5th, you might lose some bug repellant crossing Wampama and mosquitos seemed to be the worst in the mile or two following. Despite other descriptions I've seen, there is no signage indicating the falls or camp is coming up. Rocks create a fork toward the sites after the first cascade you see. There were about 10-12 spots with fire pits. The highest site is closest to the first cascade and would be ideal to watch the sunset.

Great Hike. Completed this weekend. Amazing views of waterfalls and cascades. A few good spots to relax, grab a bite and enjoy the view.

5/5/18 Beautiful trail, nicely graded. Would be HOT later in the summer.

This is probably the best hike I’ve ever been on. Trail quality is top notch and the views are spectacular. The elevation gain feels steady. Depending on when you go, and how much water there is, you might get wet near Wapama Falls. Absolutely stunning hike.

Great hike for backpacking or just a day trek. We did a one night backpacking trip and were in awe the entire time. I would describe the trail as moderate with a pack and easy without one. There were quite a few felled trees which were difficult to navigate under with a full pack. Very moderate elevation gain and beautiful waterfalls almost every mile. Plenty of shade cover and well marked trail. The cascades at the top were well worth it!

Great Family Hike to waterfalls with 2 kids (10 and 7).
Easy to moderate hiking

stunning in the winter!

Not an easy trail.
Even if your in the middle of the worst drought in twenty years bring your rain gear!
The camp site was great and there were lots of places to have a safe fire when I went.
The tail starts off easy, but got progressively more difficult the farther I continued. I was with a big group and there were plenty of areas for everyone to explore and have an amazing time.
The way out was a lot easier than the way in.
You can meet a lot of really fun and interesting people who love the outdoors as much as you do.

Beautiful easy hike.

Beautiful Northern California hiking. Relatively easy until you hit the switchbacks

did this early December, beautiful!

Gorgeous hike, though after schlepping our heavy backpacks for 6 miles had a hard time crossing the little river hopping from rock to rock. It was slippery and my daughter got her foot wet right before sunset and her shoes was frozen the next morning. The waterfall there is beautiful, it's a stunning place. Be forewarned that only 3 official fire rings are open for use among over 25 camp sites, so if you grab a fire pit, please invite others to join you as it's getting colder at night.

Very manageable as a day hike. There's a cliff jumping spot on the bridge used to cross Rancheria Creek

way better than i expected... moderately flat until the last 2 miles then you switchback down beside some impressive waterfalls... still alot of water as of 8/12/17... this is also the PCT... i saw maybe 150 folks along the way on a Saturday... trailhead parking scared me... i thought there could easily be a thousand with that many cars

Amazing Views.

Lovely lake and stunning views from burst rock along the way

First day I ever backpacked was on this trail. Beautiful hike of the meadows and not too challenging to get to Glen Aulin from TM

Killer views only 1/2 mile or so in that just keep going as you hike along the ridge top. The lake was nice and serene, though a bit marshy around the edges. We reached the lake about noon and there were plenty of mosquitos about. Awesome mellow hike
