Not enough shade to do this when the temperatures are high. Laughlin loop was recently plowed, so there are dirt clods. Enough people are walking in the same path to tamp them down but not in all areas.

The beaten down paths are slippery in some areas, take caution and wear hiking shoes/boots or something that has a good grip on the tread.

Going to save this one for a winter hike when everything is green and the weather is cooler.

Nice loop with not so hard huffing to do. The walk by the lake was nice - that is where you will find a couple of restrooms and benches to look over the water. This trail is a lot easier than the Squirrel Gulch hike. Nothing real steep and the views are stunning. Some wildlife including the same doe I spotted last month.

Not great!

It’s a pretty trail, but not a lot of shade, any time of the year but summer. Saw a lot of wild life, deer, huge birds (careful with small dogs) we had two and the bird kept circling us and at one point came so close to the grown it scared us. We picked up our dogs until it went away. We also saw wild turkeys and cows. Spectacular views!

Awesome trail with great views and wild life encounters. Off leash dogs allowed.
Will come back.

A nice 9.3 mike route starting at the Sycamore Park lot and threading 3 trails to end at the DelValle dam. A few inclines on the route makes it exciting.
Lots of wildlife, so be on the watch as you could run into them...like we almost did. Just allow them to pass and you’re all good. Well maintained trails and amenities with Rangers on patrol.
Would definitely do it again!

Excellent for dog adventurers as dogs are allowed off leash! Be aware there are cattle present, as well as HUGE predatory birds (which were AMAZING and took my breath away).
We went with 3 adults and 5 dogs varying in size and it was fantastic! Excellent for wildflower seeing. Go when it's lush and green (I went April 10th), I'd imagine it might not be as fun in August. We went on a Tuesday around morning/afternoon and there were very few people there.
Also, we went off trail by accident and ended up hiking up some hills that were, uh....phew! Not sure if the actual trail is as strenuous, but what we hiked was more of a moderate level for sure.

Ideal local trail for a mid week early afternoon hike. Mostly flat terrain along vineyards then following a seasonal creek.
Beware of bobcats...you are sharing their habitat, though they would generally avoid human encounters. Great for beginning hikers or those wishing to enjoy a nice easy 2.3 mile loop.
Weekends can be quite crowded.

Excellent walk. Woodpeckers, dear, hawks, squirrels, turkeys, dogs, horses and herrings.

Beautiful views! Have done this several times and it never gets old. Sunset hikes are the best here :)

This place is beautiful, especially if you come during winter / spring when everything is still green. Very peaceful and serene.

There is a trail where dogs are allowed to walk off-leash. Our dogs loved it.

You can also do water activities here like canoeing, rowing, and fishing.

Partly cloudy but perfect MLK day hike. Many trail options. Well maintained with benches on hilltops to take a break and enjoy the scenery.
If you make it all the way you the lakeside, be prepared to hoof it back in a steady uphill climb back to the trial head. It’s worth it. Bring water.

Ridgeline was a fun a trail to hike, there were plenty of hills and some benches along the way to sit and gaze at the scenic view. Unfortunately while I did enjoy the view the whole area was clearly showing the effects of the drought as a majority of the lake was gone and the rolling green hills had become yellow. Although that might sound disappointing there are some cows along the trail to aw at and the hills are still just as high.

Good, easy hike during cooler months. Plenty of birds. Saw a cottontail Rabbit & ground squirrels

Lots of side trail options. Bring lots of water and sunscreen. Dogs are allowed off leash except in developed parts of the trail (which is only a tiny section along the lake)

Nice hike - a Livermore gem.

Did the loop that runs along the vineyards, to the second bridge and back on the paved trail. A young buck and doe were visible in the brush. Great little hike for the family

I Like How For One My Dog Was Allowed Here, Even Though There Was A Small Fee Of $2 In Order For Him To Enter Along With Me . There Are Other Trails . They’re Open To Everything Relating To Go Out On The Water, Boats, Canoes, Nd Others I Don’t Know The Name Of . I Only Walked The Ridgeline Trail&I’m Satisfied With It. I Felt It The Next Day

There is a large parking lot. Says parking is $7 but no attendant day I was there and they do not take credit cards so bring cash and put it in an envelope. As for the trail, I ran from the entrance I followed Arroyo Valle Trail. Mainly concrete and open area. Very little to no shade. Ran past the footbridge all the way to a nearby regional park before running back on the Dry Creek trail which hugged the outside of the park. Some wine grape fields. Overall the Dry Creek trail was dirt with some stones. Perfect for a flat fast trail run.
