Not overly challenging, easy to do if you’re in decent shape - it may just take you a bit longer if not. We were 4 people and clocked in at 1hr15min. Mostly shaded with rewarding views when you hit the top - wonderful forest canopies to look at otherwise!

The trail is covered with fallen trees leaves at this time of the year and very pretty. Dogs are allowed on this trail. Not many hikers since the parking space is very limited and kind of tough. Narrow street parking.

HikingGreat!

Nice dog friendly trail under the tree canopy pretty much the entire time—probably a nice respite on a hot summer day. Very well-kept trail with plenty of appropriate signage. No vistas to take in, but it doesn’t need a vista. This walk in the woods is gorgeous on its own. On par with Muir Woods, only the trees are smaller and there aren’t any tourists.

Great hike through the redwoods. Nice view of the north bay and the breeze through the forest feels very zen.

Ended up doing a slightly different loop (more on Blithedale ridge going west). Lovely shaded walk on Dawn Falls down by the riverbed with lots of tall pines and redwoods. A few warnings: 1) very limited street parking near the trailhead so plan to walk 0.3-0.5 miles on the road to get to the trailhead 2) there are some very technical/steep parts to the trail. In particular I found coming down Barbara Springs to be surprisingly steep, technical and at times hard to keep my grip (due to a lot of loose dirt). Definitely want to wear hiking shoes.

HikingGreat!

Nice trail with leisurely sections and decent climbs. This trail is especially pleasant in the colder months with colorful autumn leaves blanketing the ground and the green trees contrasted with cloudy skies. Decently busy for a Wednesday late morning. Most of the passerby’s were dog walkers and mountain bikers on the fire trails. Little parking at the Madrone Ave entrance to Dawn Falls. This route intersects with a few other trails so be sure to check your map at each intersection (I added about an extra 1.5 miles to my recording by not doing this lol.)

I was pleasantly surprised at how secluded this trail felt since it is located in a residential area. The parking is limited and in a very tight space so make sure to bring a small vehicle. The trail signs are clearly marked throughout. I continued up the ongoing trail to a pleasant view of the bay. There were no water falls this time in Nov but plenty of redwoods to explore

Great Saturday morning hike with my wife and dog. Arrived at 8:30am and had to park about 1/4 mile from the trail head. Made a mistake and turned left after the bridge but enjoyed the flat path and dank neighborhood along the dry creek until we got back on track. Would have gave it 5 stars if the falls were running. Could only imagine how beautiful that would be. Scenic overlook an hour in. Drinking fountain for dog along the way. Had to scramble at some points given the steep terrain, dog on leash made it tricky once or twice. Hike it counter clockwise.

Steep entry but otherwise an easy walk. Given the beauty of so many hikes nearby the redeeming value is that's it's a quick 1hr escape to the woods when you don't have more time

Beautiful little loop. Bring water on a hot day - the first .5 mile is exposed, dusty and steep. But worth the effort.

Hiked to the middle peak by using Lakeview trail to find a bunch of radio towers emitting radiation. Going up the Colier Spring trail was a nice workout.

Walking

This trail definitely has potential, but if you have a baby and/or dogs and/or it’s a hot day be warned. I feel like there was lack of recognition of the steepness and gravel road for the first .5 miles. Some reviewers claimed that this is a great wooded trail for a hot day. LAUGH! Once we got into the woods it was more enjoyable but that first part really sucked that we ended up turning around.
