Not too exciting. Creek is almost unnoticeable throughout but the shade from the trees were nice. A nice route to walk your dog though. Lots of droppings from horses but they’re so big you really can’t miss them when you’re walking. The park you start at is really nice is fully equipped for a family gathering.

Relatively flat easy relaxing hike!

one of my very favorite go to trail, short, steep and get my heartrate going

Such a beautiful place, I added Red Rock Canyon to this hike since this was my first time here. It never crossed my mind about the name Billy Goat Trail, but sure made sense once I started it. This is a fun, but rough trail. The right shoes are a must, and the only trail I used my pole on. I'm fairly new to hiking and 53, so I just take my time. Really worth it though, gorgeous views.

DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED on the trails

Walking up Dreaded Hill is challenging but when you reach the top you feel fantastic for the accomplishment

This hike is more like just a walk in the park. You can either choose to walk on the cement pathways or in the dirt path. The dirt path is shared with horses and there are lots of piles of horse manure.

It's extremely easy, but still pretty enjoyable.

Stupidly marked trailheads announcing “no trespassing, private property” which seems to apply to the areas off the trail. Long suburban walk at the start without much going for it, other than some cool pedestrian underpasses. Hits whiting ranch, and then the fun part “coyote brush trail” is closed due to construction. Don’t waste your time, start at whiting ranch for a real hike.

I hope this is the Harding Road at the end of Modjeska Canyon Road that starts at the Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary. If it is then I don't think it is part of Whiting Ranch but close to it. We wanted a training hike as we are doing the Grand Canyon in a few weeks. We were nervous about the 90 degree heat that had been predicted so we started early (7:30) and found that we were in shade most of the way up. The various markings that had been indicated in our hiking book were not there (gone since the fire) so we just kept climbing. The views get better and better the higher you go. The trail was a wide fire road (I think) and very few offshoots We could see Whiting Ranch and the Modjeska grade trail from several viewpoints. Our day was very clear and you could see from Palos Verdes to Catalina to Laguna Beach.
The trail goes on but we turned around at about 6 miles in. Great workout!

There are multiple entry points and sections to the overall trail. The section which starts in Aliso Viejo at the South entrance to Wood Canyon and then goes North to Sheep Hills Park is exactly 10k. This is a straight forward 10K run on relatively flat terrain. Starting from the South Wood Canyon entrance the path is a very low uphill grade to Sheep Hills Park. At the "top" you can turn around and with the very low downhill grade have a nice negative split. The 10K distance is an out and back route.
