nice hike, many side trails, many alternate routes to take. Took longer than expected so keep that in mind. parking seemed open but was closed on one side that gmaps tells you to go.

May 22, 2020 Get there early before the heat gets you. I ran most of the way up at 9:30, but hiked back. Beautiful views, once you get past the paved areas. There was a couple of narrow rocky past ways at the beginning, so just be careful. When you reach the split of the paths, chose the uphill one, it has the best scenic views of the coast and we didn’t run into too many other hikers. Leave the bees alone, and they’ll leave you alone. Great hike, the roundtrip felt like 3 miles.

This is my favorite trail so far. So many fun and challenging side loops to do along the way. Cave Rock, Dripping Cave, Car Wreck and many more. Dripping Cave only access off wood canyon trail, just out and back, no loop. We saw a small mountain lion zoom across the trail right behind the group in front of us right by Mathis Canyon Intersection.

Great little trail, pretty crowded in the middle of the day. Gorgeous views. Will do it again!

I don't like this trail. It's long and streneous. No trees no shade no water.. all dirt... and a lil bit of rock. It's summer now but yellow trees and grass everywhere, is like burnt all over. And u can see the city and houses nearby so ruined immersive nature experience. I was totally misled by the high rating and had high expectations. Have some standard people!

Good trail, half paved half dirt that runs along a lake. Paid parking but you can park free at Whole Foods next door and walk over

What a beautiful place..! So peaceful, so clean, $5 parking during the weekend for the whole day.! Love it..!

We love this trail, our fav. Trail by far

One of my Favorite trails .. I went 4/20/20 and it was Green Green and Flowers were blooming

Many of these reviews prove that these people have never hiked or ridden the challenging trails throughout Aliso Woods and Canyons. They’re obviously staying on the lower fire roads and not on the real trails descending from above: Five Oaks, Car Wreck, Mathis up, Rock-It, Lynx, Stair Steps, Mentally Sensitive, Meadows. Adjacent Laguna Coast has even more challenging trails.

Come here often just to get a decent walk in. It’s a bit crowded on weekends but lots of space on the open paths for 6 ft distancing.

Beautiful local trails… None of them are very long but you can add on to go other directions it’s basically a point-to-point, point-to-point then point to point none of them really make a loop!!! The views are worth it though!

-road walking +ample parking +bathrooms -kinda flat for 80% +good hill at 6 miles in -the last portion (uphill, downhill is essentially a mountain bike trail) very narrow, hard packed Summary- did it once would prob take the right at “five oaks” for a better challenge and less bikes”

Steep, but great! From the top of the mountain down to the beach and back up.

The actual parking lot is on Awma off Alicia Parkway. For some reason, my apple maps brought me to a residence off the 133, which must be the backside. If you are using GPS, use the Awma address. The beginning of this is road but once you get the trails, you can break off to do quite a few trails. Dripping Cave is closed but there are still plenty of hiking options available. (My recording is off because my phone kept shutting off. My friend's phone stayed on, it was actually 8.9 miles for the route we ended up on.) Parking is $3 weekday/$5 weekends (cards accepted) but you can also use a Regional Park Pass if you have one. ($55 a year, worth it if you go often.)

Easy short hike...Incredible views! Watch for dog poo.

Loved this short easy steep hike! The view at the top was amazing and I could’ve sat there and soaked it in all day!

This is a pretty easy hike if you stay on the main trail. I went up the the car wreck which was pretty weird and cool to see. There are flies everywhere the whole hike though which is pretty annoying. If you are on this trail with little ones whether walking or biking be careful as cyclists rip up and down these trails going extremely fast. I give it a 4 star because the flies and the Port-a-potty at the start of the hike off the pavement is the nastiest port-a-potty I have ever seen!

A scenic easy trail that follows the ridge line high above Laguna. Fantastic ocean views. Trail is a blend of dirt, rocks, asphalt and concrete with minimal elevation change. Exposed so bring a hat. Dog friendly.

Loved this trail! The peak with to the most amazing scenic overview ever! Kind of a top of the world kind of feel. Kids (ages 6 and 7) handled it successfully. Park outside gated community, there are 8 or so picnic tables along the first part of the flat/wide part of the trail, then you descend down a narrow rocky path, into the canyon and up the other side to the breath-taking plateau. Then take the trail back. This is one of the top 10 hikes in OC and its incredible!
