trail running

This trail is maintained & rewarding. All uphill at first but once you reach the top, the trail starts to wind down. So much around to see & explore but also great for running. The run is challenging but as soon as you make the run around into the smaller trails, that’s the exciting part. The trail closes in between trees & a dried up river bed. The trail markers let you know the distance so you don’t get lost.
Constant views and open area so wear sunscreen.

Beautiful and challenging

I would not categorize this hike as Easy, moderate is a better description. Depending on what direction you start from, dirt path- very steep incline for about a mile, street path- gradual but still steep incline on asphalt through a neighborhood with no sidewalks. Not children friendly. On the plus side it has great views of the ocean.

No shade at all so be ready for that. Also, the parking lot opens at 8, at least it did on the Saturday I went. $3 park all day.

The map is a little odd. It picks a seemingly random point to turn back. this can be done just as well as a loop. Reference the map for alternatives to just turning back.

We ended up going all the way to the beach instead of turning back, then we just hitched a ride back to the car because it was too hot to keep going. The beach views are amazing if you go about 2 miles further.

There are lots of mountain bikers but the trail is wide so it's no big deal for hikers. The campgrounds are not super interesting.

Awesome trail. Ended up taking it to the emerald trail totaling about 10 miles. Great hike, cool secluded place in Laguna Canyon.

We went to this trail at one of the hottest days in this summer. It is not an easy hike in the hot weather plus an exposed trail. However, an occasional ocean breeze is pleasant. We finished the 5 Miles within 2 hours! A nice Sunday work out!

Beautiful views of the ocean...beautiful 2 hour hike

Is a great work out ! No shades but nice view! ! Highly recommend

Amazing place

There is no shade on this trail, as described previously. It would be a better hike on an overcast day - I was there in the full sun. The trail is well maintained. you don't have to go far to get a view of the ocean. Not sure there is enough on this trail to attract me back again, but it was a nice outing.

Great views of Crystal Cove. Absolutely no shade, but we went on the perfect June gloom day.

Enjoyed taking the beach access trail/tunnel near the end. Great family hike but fake note of the weather.

You can no longer go to cave. Nice clean beach

Decent hike around Crystal Cove Park - completely unshaded. A nice way to end the hike is to go to Laguna Beach :) There are many rolling hills along the way for a good workout.

I finished this in under 3 hours.

Apple maps took us to the other side. Upside is we did not have to pay for parking. Coming back was brutal uphill. Maybe went the wrong way but total hike was about 8 miles. Great workout.

Great trail. Scenic ocean and Laguna Beach.

Wow. Elevation like rocket from the get go. Awesome post

Loved the first 25 - 30 mins of Big Ben (if you love to jog mountains- this is for you). It’s a straight up hike to the top. Great views and moderate connecting trails that take you too emerald bay... no shade so be careful when you decide to take this hike. Have a blast and LVFT!

Great conditioning hike going up the BFI with amazing view of Newport Coast and PCH. For an extra challenge, after BFI, go down East Cross Over then up Poles :))

A great workout for hiking

4.5 because of the 15$ parking fee. great hike very enjoyable. only down fall is It seems as tho every annoying bug on the west coast lives at this park. great hike for getting into shape good elevations. as noted by others you will need lots of water.

Great trail, not to much wild life, did the trail with my 3 kids, not too heavy, we still had energy so we went to the beach after

This is a long walk, top half is paved or wood planks. Bottom is the beach.. sand and at the end of the loop rocks. I enjoyed myself and it was not challenging. Parking is $5 an hour or $15 for the day. For the four miles with a few stops it was just under two hours. I think of myself as a slow walker. Oh and there are three spots of stairs.

First time hiking at Crystal Cove took the Moro Canyon easy hike. Absolutely beautiful views. The trail was easy enough for non-experienced hikers, but don't get me wrong it was an excellent workout and I broke a sweat. I will definitely be on this hiking path again. and will definitely try the other more advanced trails soon enough.

Lovely view of the beach on the loop back. Quite steep in some places, and gets a lot of sun exposure - would recommend going here earlier in the morning.

The trail here is beautiful! Parking is $3.00, so no complaints there. I took the Big Bend Loop hike, and let me tell ya... I though my fat ass was going to pass out going up that incline... But I made it! I say the first 45 minutes of the hike is the toughest since you are just going uphill, but get past that and it's a breathtaking view and a great hike. I would say it takes about 3 to 4 hours to go around. I have tiny little legs so more on the 4 hour side for me. Make sure you take lots of water and pack on that sunscreen as there isn't a lot of shade. Also, the potties are kept pretty clean, and they even have seat protectors.

This trail is not that beautiful. I mean...if it’s all you have then fine. But there is no greenery, telephone poles along the route and yes the coast is nice but it’s obstructed by peoples houses!! If you want a long hike to do and not drive far, this is a good choice. But it’s not as beautiful as it’s made out to be. I parked near the baseball field to avoid the $15 parking fee....which also is absolutely ridiculous.

This hike was fun and challenging if you’re a newbie like me! The route we took did have a lot of hikes up hills and my legs were jelly by the time we were done. The scenery, serenity and confidence boosting was all worth it! Absolutely gorgeous to find this gem in OC! Well worth it, don’t bring children on the long hikes and there are in fact rattlesnakes!

The kids love this trail because we always go down to the tide pools but down by the beach there are no restrooms and the walk up back to the blacktop trail is steep so prepare ahead.

The views are absolutely stunning! But be prepared to hike steep to see them. Kid friendly if they are good hikers. My 5yr old was able to do it.
