Nice trail. Shade for about 50% of time

Nice hike (loop) from Alhambra Creek station. Partially shaded, wide trails leading up to the lagoons at the top of the trail with clear views across the bay on a clear day. This is a fair weather hike.

Great hike. We went early in the morning to beat the heat (which I highly recommend). Little shade on this hike but not much tall grass so it was great for my pup. Keep dogs on leash at all times, we had some snake sightings.

I run here a lot. great place close to home. love this little trail!

Great 2-2.5 hour afternoon hike, especially after all the rain: very green, beautiful wildflowers, great views, plenty of cows, and not too muddy. The lagoons are especially picturesque.

Hiked this trail on a cloudy day, a day after some evening rain. The clouds made for a perfect hike as there is not much shade along the trail. The rain, however, created quite a bit of mud along the hike which made it more of a upper moderate hike today. Had to navigate around some thick mud and soft footing. Beautiful scenery throughout the trail, from the rolling hills to the cows to the views of the Carquinez Strait.

This hike was moderately strenuous but doable for the average person. Parking is great but does fill up if you do a late morning early afternoon hike. The hike begins as a steady climb until you reach elevation 1300. Afterwards it is a rolling up and down hike. This was not the most beautiful but it did have a good panoramic view of Rossmore, Walnut Creek and Benicia. The hike was mostly in sun and very little shade so bring water and hat. I brought my dog and he had a great workout. Many people bring their dogs and many walk them off lease. Con against hike was lots of cow/horse droppings for the dogs to walk on and roll in. The area is a cattle area so that would be expected. I ran into lots of people so it was not a solitude type of hike. Almost a little to crowded for my taste but the people who hiked it were friendly.

Nice little hike along the creek. There is a gravel trail/road that is west of the creek and runs alongside the other trail. Make sure to get on the trail and not on the road at the beginning because you can't jump over the creek and will be in the sun the entire time if not. Nice views of Diablo and not crowded at all. Would be tough after any rain.

A few hills, some great views. What’s not to like?

Walked the ridge and then descended a steep slope through dry grass/reeds. Should have stayed in the trail.

Perfect length for us and our corgi.

So many different trails you can take, we ended up doing a 6.5 mile hike, rather than the 2.4... My GF had control of the map.

TH easy to find and and a lot parking. No need for long pants but bring lots of water bc most of trail is exposed. I was alone on the trail for most of the morning - it then got pretty busy, ton of (friendly) people with dog. Really great work out but not much to see.

This trail is only about three miles but a lot of it is uphill. If you make a right when you reach the loop, toward the end are two very steep hills - makes me which I went left when I reached the loop! Doesn't offer too many beautiful views, but close enough. This is a good beginner's trail, but be careful on hot days, there are several parts that do not offer shade and you are surrounded by dead grass that reflects heat back onto you! Bring a lot of water if you're going on a warm day.

Good moderate level hike. Beautiful views. Lots of cows. The map on here takes you to a private road that you cannot go through. To get to this trail, keep going on happy valley rd then make a right into bear creek rd. until you get to Bear Creek Staging on the right. There's a few parking lots. Gets pretty windy when you get higher too. Overall, great hike. Made it in 3 hrs, 4 miles with frequent breaks. Our 5 year old hiked the whole way himself and 2 year old was on my back most of the time. Kids loved it.

Beautiful view of Mt. Diablo.

Great loop with a mix of climbing and flat terrain. Gorgeous views from Mt Diablo to the Carquinez bridge. Had to navigate around a herd of about 30 cows at one point blocking the trail. A lot of cattle gates along the trail. Make sure to bring plenty of water for a hot day. Lots of lizards, wild flowers, and birds.

Nice combination of creek side hike, open space and views of Mt Diablo

This was a good casual morning hike.

great view, but unfortunately there was a pretty big coyote close to the path so I had to turn around the day I took my dog. gone back since and is relatively 3 miles to do this loop

Nice wide trail, easy parking, views. Lots of cows!

Really green and lush now--wildflowers are starting to pop. Due to the rains and the cows the trails are really rutted and there are still a few really muddy areas. But definitely worth getting out into all that green now in the spring-- probably will be too hot for me in the summer as it's mostly exposed-- which makes great views though.

Easy loop that connects to Alhambra Creek Trail. Great views, some elevation gain but not huge. Love the cows, but watch out for all the cow pies!

We had a alternate hike today. Instead of going west to the ridge, we went east and through the Acalanes Open Space to Larkey Park in Walnut Creek. The hike was 4.3 miles with elevation of 866 feet.

Perfect in the winter. Everything's all green and there isn't much shade, but it can get muddy if it's rained recently.

Muddy and uphill on bad trail. Good if you want to off leash your dog, but not worth the hike.

Great Hike to see the Green Hills - a little muddy about 2 miles from the finish but considering how much it has poured - it wasnt too bad
