Awesome views! Trail was well marked and there were few people for a good part of the hike. 90% of the trail is in the sun, so bring LOTS of water. On an 80 degree day, I downed 3 liters with a solid mile left. Took us 3:20 with a nice lunch and snack break. Trail is more like 7 miles.

A bit crowded but a fun bike ride

Loved this hike, though it turned out to be 7.25 miles. We went counterclockwise, and we had some steep climbs and ended up in the area with little cover. Would recommend an early start and counter clockwise direction with lots of water heading into summer.

easy and quick walk.

Shaded narrow single lane trails with drop off to one side. Poison oak everywhere. Didn’t go all the way around. Easy trail with slight elevation. There are two points with bench’s and a view.

Great hike but weirdly ended the walk going through a cemetery. Otherwise would have been 5/5

Wonderful hike. Plenty uphill, but great views. So fun to be on ridge line.

A little overgrown, watch out for ticks. Other than that fantastic half marathon track with just enough climbing to make it interesting but stays completely runnable all the way through!

Beautiful hike. With a gradual incline, it never gets too intense. Lots of ridges to walk along and see valleys and rolling hills with ponds and lonely trees scattered through. You get to see some cows, as well as lots of types of birds. Gradual decline as well. Making it an easy finish.

Nice

Social distancing and mask wearing are two things that evade 90% of bikers and hikers here. Way too crowded for this immunocompromised hiker

After a day of rain, it was a little muddy on the bottom, but a nice wide trail. Great for kids who need to get out!

Great trail if you’re ready for a climb! Beautiful balance of trees and sun, nice climbs and drops, and beautiful views. Dog loved it. And we loved ending in the valley.

Awesome loop. Moderate difficulty with some good elevation. I did this counter-clockwise to knock out the majority of the climb in the beginning while I was still "fresh". Pretty dry out there right now, but some great views + patches of wildflowers. Saw a giant snake and a big old lizard on the trail. LEO checking for EBMUD trail permits... Luckily I had mine handy!

Really hard and uphill. Most beautiful in winter when the hills are so green. This is a great trail if you want to get a good workout it. mostly in the sun though so bring a lot of water. the mariposa trail/lookout is my fav in briones

Over all very easy. FYI you will pay for parking. My wife & I enjoyed it. Picturesque! Lots of people & dogs but was very pleasant. Canoes for rent & saw kids fishing. Worth the drive & time.

About half a mille goes through a cemetery. Portions are poorly marked and go through private property. We will not do this one again.

Great trail with moderate traffic, hikers all do respect social distancing. Beautiful colors by different flowers

Good trail for incline. Wouldn't recommend on a hot day as there is no shade. Also saw 2 snakes but gorgeous views

Definitely on the tougher side of moderate! You start out going up a very steep stretch of the Springhill Trail, so it might be advisable to warm up a little bit beforehand. Rather than heading down Buckeye, we continued going up Briones Crest Trail and then down the Sunrise Trail, catching Buckeye at the bottom. All in all we went about 7.3 miles and 1500 ft of elevation gain. It was a gorgeous day -- definitely glad we started early because there were stretches without shade. We saw other hikers (more towards the end of the hike) but it wasn't very crowded and the trail was wide enough to comfortably pass others. We started around 8:45 and spent about 3.5 hours on the trail. When we left the parking lot was full and people were parked down the sides of the one lane road to the parking area for about a mile. I think parking on the weekends would be tricky unless you go early.

Great trail. More like easy than moderate. The north side is very empty and spits out into the cemetery !

Great moderate hike! Half of the trail has no shade at all so be sure to bring sunscreen.

Part of the trail was a bit overgrown - after seeing a snake, made us a bit nervous! Agree with other reviewer - counterclockwise was the way to go!
