View from Stegner bench is awe-inspiring. Enjoy the wildflowers in springtime then immerse in forest-bathing.

Wonderful long hike through a leafy forest, you're covered pretty much the whole time. Some highlights include a broken down 50's car that nature has reappropriated, wildflowers, lots and lots of redwoods, and Peter's creek. Saw about a half dozen salamanders swimming in there, trouts too. We chose to stay overnight at the trail camp about 3 miles in and did the rest of the hike the next day, which I highly recommend - you'll have more time to enjoy the sights and sounds. Trail camp is within a redwood grove and is enchanting. Highly recommend!

Nice place to walk around. Waterfall is not as excited as I expected. Easy trail. All the trees are amazing!

The lower flat portion of the hike is fantastic for kids. It is rather flat and easy. You can also make it interesting for children by having them search for banana slugs. Our top count is 52 slugs spotted from the parking lot to the far end of the trail.

I had the pleasure of joining the 510 Hikers today. The hike started off pretty easy, but was soon challenged by the incline in some of the hills. Would I do this hike again? Yes, most definitely. The views are beautiful and there’s a number of shaded rest areas.

Gorgeous views!

This hike is still great. There's two fallen trees about 5 miles in though. One has an easy man made path to go around, the other is right over the trail and you need to squeeze underneath, it's a bit of a tight fit but doable. Well worth it to get to the grove at the end!

This one was a wonderful hike. Fully green valley view with wild flowers and poppies. We short circuited our hike through charquin trail and the second half of the hike had a bit of elevation. On the way back we spotted a couple of deers.

Unique experience partly because of non existent traffic. A few things made me wonder if the trail was actually closed e.g. no other hikers, broken trees, a not opening gate, etc. Anyways, this is indeed a great trail. Saw some impressive redwood trees in the earlier part of the trail.

Wonderful array of wildflowers along the trail in midApril. Great view to the Pacific on the coast side, and to the Bay on the upper loop. Moderate terrain, trail is well-maintained.

So peaceful and definitely not crowded on a Friday afternoon. Also saw a mountain lion from across the lake and plenty of birds and bush rabbits!

Beautiful easy trail that has great variety of creek and water, to wide open meadows, and narrow pathways shaded by redwoods. Not suitable for children i’d say and best for hikers and mountain bikers.

The scenery is absolutely beautiful and it's a great moderately difficult hike, which in my opinion is perfect! therefore a 5/5

Overall, a short and easy walk through the redwoods. We stopped here on a whim in December. Weather was coolish, but we decided to do the short walk anyway. Took about 30 mins with lots of stops for photos and wildlife viewing.

Beautiful, peaceful, views, shade, flowers, and wildlife.

We did Ridge trail and looped down on Hawkeyes trail to Ancient Oak Trail to Charquin and then ended on Ridge back to the parking lot. Took us 1.75 hours

Loved it. Mostly exposed trails, beautiful and quiet. Can watch the sunrise. However, the trails were not marked very well so got lost on the way back to the parking lot.

moderate to easy trail, 3.5 hours for two decently in shape weekly hikers. highly recommend!

A relatively easy hike with good view of the mountains and bay. The signposts can be confusing. Highly recommend taking a map with you.

Really beautiful easy hike

I had been there before once long time ago, the Peter Creek was awesome with lots of tall and big trees.
This time right at the end of Bear Creek Trail before the bridge, a huge redwood, possibly thousand years old, has fallen on the trail and not quite possible.
So we didn't made it to the loop, but we still had this decent 10 mile hike.

Excellent views. Mostly open space surrounded by rolling hills. Parts are shaded in the forest. Incline is nicely varied with alternating ups and downs. Signs along the trail could be better so that people don't get lost at forks.

not too difficult, cut short due to daylight, but nice

Amazing hike but dont use my map - tried to extend the hike with a few additional miles but ran into challenges. Never easy to get to hikes on the P'sula, TH has limited parking but there is a larger lot right around the corner. Trail in great condition even with the recent rain. Trail goes up right away but not too bad. The Redwoods are solid but not over the top (but wait) - get to the top and wide open views. The Heritage portion of the hike was one of the best I have seen in the Bay Area - very quiet and Redwoods looked great

Awesome for families with kids

Holy cow. The views were gorgeous, the hike was tough without being exhausting, and while there’s quite a bit of human traffic in some areas there’s less if you go deeper. Best piece of advice IMO: do the whole thing stoned if you can. Sooo pretty. ;-) 9/10

Did this with my son in the backpack half the way and walking the other.
I saw 5 people in total so not a lot of traffic for 3 hours.
The footing is unstable due to all the leaves so bring shoes with grooves.
Shaded all the way and got cold, I put his sweater on.
I deducted one star as they were running some infernal machine near the HQ which ruined half my hike till they shut it down additionally the Iverson cabin is not a cabin but a place where the cabin once was and next to it are some hideous falling apart ranger housing? which is ultra-lame they should fix them and not run machinery on the day of the Lord.

Other than that I'd say, this is an excellent trail for quiet walking especially when it is hot in the bay.

The Redwood grove at the end make this hike well worth it, it's amazing when you get there. Overall, this hike was pretty easy, there's really only one stretch of climbing and as others have mentioned, the elevation is very gradual throughout. Highly recommended!

Very gentle and very pretty hike. Very well shaded for the summer time by the canopy.

A really nice hike for me, my daughter and her entire girl scout troop. We also made a little side trip over to tip toe falls! In the warm season bring a bathing suit for a shallow swim at the creek by the seasonal bridge.
