This trail is definitely best done this time of year (Winter/Spring) because of the lack of shade. There are some nice views of the mountains in the distance and occasionally the river. At the moment there are parts that are severely overgrown, but I believe volunteers are planning on working on it next week. It's a nice trail for beginners (be careful crossing the rock bridge) or if you're looking for something during the off season.

This trail is fine. Essentially a dirt road up to a power station. There are some nice moments, but considering the surrounding area, you can likely do better.

The trail was in great condition! The creek crossing at Bull Run Creek has a rock bridge. Thank you to whoever did that.

First time hiking the Whiskey Flat Trail. Although it’s easy, it is not stroller friendly due to the scattered boulders and narrowness in some parts. We have twins so my husband carried one and I carried one in our packs. The trail required effort but it was not difficult.

Great trail, good views, last mile is very steep scramble but worth the view.

Beautiful trail with multiple hike-in camps. Couple down trees, requires climbing over and crawling under. Make sure to check your dog for ticks after the hike. Even with Frontline, my dog had 5 ticks on her.

Easy mostly flat hike alongside the river. Perfect even in winter.

Beautiful day for a hike. The bridge was washed out and Bull Run Creek was up so I switched to the Bull Run Loop Hike and visited pool 1 and the smelter ruins. Beautiful day!

Nice trail, did it last weekend. Easy to follow and good going although soem scrambling on loose gravel towards the end. Had to watch out for the right turn towars the peak off the main trail that continues to the main ridges. Lots of flies and midges at the top- and there is a prominent tree in front of the rock with the plaque on that rather ruins the view of Lake Isabella, that tree needs to meet with an accident! Lots of mountain bikers on way down, polite and freindly but they could do with adjusting their speed to match how far ahead they can see (ie be able to stop in it), rather than relying on walkers to hear them and hop out the way. Nice to be able to stop in Kernville so quickly after finishing!

Yeah I mean neat cave I guess. Fairly challenging hike with a couple of river crossings that take you off trail momentarily but otherwise fairly simple to navigate. All in all a good workout in a lesser trafficked part of the sequoia park.

Lots of bugs and over grown down at the base, but well worth it when you get to the cave

10/25/19 So the cave is awesome, much deeper than I expected ! The hike is grueling ! 5 miles rt. tons of bugs, bring a head net. also lots of poison oak. really glad I read the other blogs, at the first creek crossing you need to go hard right on the other side of the creek. there is a trail in front of you, do not take it. It will take you away from the real trail. you will have to walk upstream what seems to not be a trail. after 10 yards or so you will see the trail again.

Hiked this trail with my two sons (4 and 8 years old). was a little worried whether or not they would make it up the first climb and if we made it to the cave, would they have the energy to hike out. They did amazing! It is as steep and grueling as everyone says but they crushed it! the only turn that is hard to see is right after the first main creek crossing. You need to turn right and follow the shore for a few feet, then the trail becomes well defined again. Weather was perfect and the cave was really cool and worth the effort. There were a lot of bugs while hiking up the creek area and bug spray did practically nothing. If my 4 year old can do it then you can too! hiked the trail on 10/15/19

Great view but boring drive. Not challenging at all. Also no deer or bear. 5 stars for the view.

much better for biking than hiking. impossible to get to the very top because of terrain without boots and poles. No shade. Pretty though.

such fun technical hiking for me with all the rock scrambling--but easy rock scrambling!

This took everything we had a rank it more as a a hard not a moderate. Lots of fun but I’m gonna be sore in the morning

Great trail, beautiful views as you hike on top of the ridge. Unfortunately, we had to turn back at the base of Sherman Peak due to seeing smoke in the canyon below us. Can’t wait to come back to check out the peak, but well worth the hike.

beautiful hike but once you get to the stream crossing be sure you have bug spray, the bugs are thick through there right now.
