best trail in southern california hands down !

Beautiful trail. Moderate workout. Try hiking this one in March when it’s green and beautiful everywhere. Waterfalls in the canyon are a plus! Hit up KRV Brewing Co. for a treat after. No water available. Watch out for occasional dirt bikers.

Like some said, not a lot of shade. We only crossed one creek (still no bridge but we climbed a log), but there were some washes that may have water after the snow melts. (went in early June).

Found what looked like trail that followed along the river, but it quickly became overgrown and impassable. Would have been a nicer trail if we were closer to the water.

The trail continues on and there's no clear marker for the end of the Bull Run trail portion.

Otherwise extremely pretty trail, definitely want to hike when its cooler.

The view at the top was amazing! Well worth the hike

This hike was killer! It was 4.3 miles to the turn off for Powers Peak. It was another .78 miles to the peak which was a crazy climb. Good thing my hiking partner was smart enough to bring hiking poles. All in all it was a 10.16 mile hike. The views were gorgeous but definitely be prepared to climb!

Brisk spring morning hike. Cross the creek by crawling over logs. Woulda gone further but my daughter got tired. Definitely will come back to. Bring water. No shade, which is fine in cooler temps but would be killer in the summer.

Did the full 14 miles from the trailhead outside Kernville to Fairview (2/19-2/21). Easy to follow for the most part with a few exceptions. Trail is quite overgrown in certain areas which briefly caused us to lose the trail at one point. While there is no crazy elevation gain, there is a decent amount of up and down, especially in the latter 7 miles of the hike. The trail is also fairly exposed, without much shade, so I could see it being much more strenuous during the hotter parts of the year. Overall though, very pretty and scenic hike with nice views of the Kern river. Would definitely hike it again sometime.

Good hike, pretty steep in some areas, towards the end there’s really no trail you have to make your own path but the view at the top is def worth it

Easy pretty :)

Amazing hike from Sierra Road up to the Meadows yesterday. It's strenuous but not technical, and very rewarding. Fantastic views and some interesting wildlife.

Started out at 9am, got to the Meadows at 1:30pm. Ate lunch for half an hour, then back to the parking lot at 5:15. So 4:30 hours hiking up, 3:15 coming down. I brought 3 litres of water which was just enough.

Very little traffic on trail expect for a few mountain bikers riding down. They can approach very quickly and surprised me at one point - keep your head up.

Would highly recommend for fit, experienced hikers.

Great hiking trail from Whiskey Flat trail head to a terrific waterfall pool area of the creek. Picture perfect.

Great view of the Kern river. Prepare yourself for a long hike. I wore the wrong shoes and my feet were in so much pain.

Good long ride but difficult in sections. We're planning on doing the Cannell trail from the top but the road is still closed part way up from about 6000ft. You can keep driving the fire road past big meadow to park and join Cannell trail from there. You can also bike from the closed road which is a 2500ft climb.

Rode on a Saturday and did not encounter anyone else except some moto riders towards the end. Some great views and scenes throughout the ride.

I'm a novice and coped but it is difficult and took 5 hours.

Make sure you are well prepared because there is no phone coverage and no one else to help you.

Very flat and easy first mile to the creek. Mostly flat trail with few inclines. Very little shade. Dog friendly. Watch out for poison oak and snakes.

great trail.

Great trail for all fitness levels. You must have good balance to cross the creek since there is too much water flowing to cross in the water. Our lab was able to cross but did struggle with the strong current. We saw a coyote too!

Well we didn't actually find a safe Creek crossing, so instead we went a couple of miles on a trail that followed the creek. Beautiful raging water flowing all the way. Go now while there is water in the creek as it is well worth it.

Went yesterday the creek was high and my younger kids couldn't cross the logs but we all had fun playing in the water for a couple of hours

My nephew and I completed this as a backpacking trip. We hiked to pine flats which is really beutiful. The wildflowers are beautiful right now. There was still some snow on the ground at pine flats. The trail was very difficult with the fully loaded pack. We were exhasuted by the time we got back and had sore feet becasue the trail is quite rocky. We did not see many people once we got about 2 miles in. We did see a coupl of dirt bikers on the way out. The views of the kern river an lake isabella are amazing. I would not recommend this as a backpackign trip for any beginners.

Well marked trail, flat, with nice scenery with the surrounding vistas. Note, the bridge to cross Bull Run Crk was washed out this year, which limits your mileage northbound. I was able to follow another trail westbound up the creek for some way, and I've heard there are some pools if you continue further. Lots of exploring can be had in this area.

this is a nice trail, we coulf not cross the bridge because it was taken by the water but we followed the spring upstream to some pools . we met some local older folks on the trail that told us about them and that they are much prettier in the summer

Went in the winter. Backpacked it in way further than this shows. Not sure we were allowed to camp as we didn't really see any developed sites but it was a rainy / snowy miserable weather no one around to bug us! Follows the river

nice trail, not stroller friendly. we passed a neat bridge someone had made. beautiful scenery. we were looking for some pools someone said were around but didn't find any. we stayed all the way to the right. there are different trails shooting in different directions. find some water, was flowing good. I will definitely come back to this trail but bring my baby back pack next time.

Still a little hot this yme of year. A lot of damage from the fire breaks. Good for my 5 yo son. Easy and flat. Didn't find any water, but we got hot and turned around early.

Easy trail to find just past Kernville. Basically an access road that you can hike. Our dogs enjoyed themselves. Workout was good, views were average.

My kids (3 and 5) had so much fun! We easily found the creek and loved the log bridge. We also loved the little meadows of wild flowers. They loved climbing on the boulders. Great trail!

This trail was great during the winter. It was green, temperatures were perfect (low 60's), and there were only a few people out using the trail, so you almost have it to yourself. The grade is nowhere near "hard" difficulty, and trail should be categorized as "moderate". There are some areas to go off the main trail after about a mile. Once up on the saddle, we went all the way up Flume Mountain (the one on your left as you go up), which was more challenging than the hike, but doable if you're an experienced hiker. All in all, this was a great trail, and if you're in the area it's worth checking out.

Thanks to chris horgan and the stewards of the sequoia for maintaining this trail for everyone to use.
multi use trails can work, without people on motorbikes this trail and others would be overgrown.
