Jamestown, California Map

A beautiful hike in the spring with the summit covered by wildflowers.

The description says this is a loop trail which, up until now, was not true. There is a new section of trail which you can descend off Table Mountain and make this a loop. If you take the trail, which is shown on the map up to the top of Table Mountain and hike southerly along the West rim of Table Mountain for approximately 1/2 mile you will come to a stone memorial monument. Continue along the rim for another 400 feet and you will come to a depression in the escarpment, follow this down (it is a little adventurous but most people should be able to do this) to the point where you will "T" into another trail (this is the climbers trail that goes to the Grotto climbing area, go there for another adventure). At the "T" turn left and follow this trail down to the Peoria Flat Road and back to your vehicle. An easier way to do this trail (it a bit less adventurous as you are going uphill in the adventurous section) is to get to the parking area with the toilet either by hiking or vehicle and follow Peoria Flat Road past the locked gate approximately 1/2 mile to a will defined trail that diagonals up and left (you will pass a couple of other indistinct trails on the left but you will know you are on the correct if you come to a steel power pole just right of the trail after going 300 feet on the trail) Continue up the trail and you will come to a rocky section where you will be hoping from rock to rock, continue past this section to a point where the trail descends into another rocky section. Before you descend find a trail on the right that does steep uphill, follow this trail to the rim and continue north along the rim to intersect with the trail going down after approximately 1/2 mile.

More signs would be helpful. I missed a sign directing me to stay left and went right which brought me to thousands of rocks. I climbed almost to the top of the rocks, but felt that this was not the trail. I eventually picked up the trail again, but never made it to the top because there wasn’t a lot of sunlight left. Will return to finish the trail.

Was a super nice hike. Not too hard at all.

Park at the first gate to add a bit extra to your hike. It’s rocky and steep at the very top, but doable. The views from the top are awesome.

Great little trail, but very rocky. I always hike with my pole and it's advised on this trail. Some sun and some shade so bring plenty of water and wear a hat. There is a restroom at the entrance. Horses also enjoy this trail so watch out for the mess they leave. Not much of an elevation gain but the trail isn't entirely flat. There are signposts indicating the trail directions - it is a loop so just keep turning left.
Highly recommended for beginning hikers.

Quick and fun hike with a clear trail. Great views from the top, and a doable hike for a wide range of ages.

Good quick hike.

Great quick hike. The last part is steep but the view is so worth it. Most parts of the trail are easy. There are some turns where it is not a 100% clear which direction to follow. Doesn't matter that much, most of them get you to the top. Download the map to be safe.

We got lost on a few turns and had to use th app to check if we were on the right path. So more signs would be nice out there. It was a great combo of shade and sun. Closer to the top we took one way and saw other people take another way up, that was a bit confusing. The views at the top are spectacular. Made want to really go into the lake we were above.

Great views! Did this hike as a family with my ten year old daughter, she loved it and the views of the lake. Found some small caves. Lots of poison oak. Can get a little steep before the very top. Also we saw a bald eagle in its nest!

rocky terrain, lots of streams, completed the loop in a little more than one hour. its not well marked but just keep in mind that it is a loop, so if u make the loop larger at the forks it will take you on longer loop.

Great hike, needs more signs! Made a couple wrong turns but eventually made it to the top and it was totally worth the view!!

nice hike.. one of my regular hikes. not too hard.. amazing views on top.

Wonderful hike, beautiful scenery. Water still flowing in places. Lots of wildflowers. I walked much more than the loop, hiked several trails over a four plus hour period. Well worth the trip. I will return.

Nice hike, took my 3 and 5 year old sons. Both made it with few complaints. Many interweaving trails that all follow the same general direction, however can be confusing as main trail has very few markers. All in all was enjoyable lightly trafficked trail.

great, short hike! beautiful views!

Love this beautiful walk/climb to the top. We used our AllTrails map to keep us on the right trail. A lot of people seemed confused about what trail to follow. Best time to do this hike is when the weather is cool.

We did this hike today (myself and my two 10 year old daughters) and it was beautiful! We did take a wrong turn but it ended up being a fun detour because we got to climb some really cool rocks! The view from the top was fantastic! There were some wildflowers but I think there will be more in the coming weeks.

I love this trail. It is very family friendly and there is an amazing view at the top.

This was a beautiful hike it!!! Best in late winter spring, because there isn't any shade at the top but the view is Fantastic!!!

My daughter and I did this hike a couple of years ago! The hike was pretty easy until you get near the top. My daughter and I had to scramble up large boulders to reach the top. It was a bit challenging, but not impossible. Although, when we were coming back down we were told that there was another way to reach the top that was much easier.. if so, I wish the trail was marked more clearly.

Once we made it to the top, the view was fantastic! ❤️
