Easy trail down to the beach. We had a picnic on the beach, who doesn’t love an ocean view? Traveled October 2017

A short hike out to another beautiful ocean overlook. We watched seals sunning themselves on the beach, so I’d recommend bringing binoculars. Traveled October 2017

Beautiful views of the lighthouse & surrounding ocean. We even saw whales out in the distance, so bring your binoculars. Traveled October 2017.

Went there yesterday. Super super crowded. Cars were not allowed 2 miles from the trail. Had to walk 2 miles to the main parking area and then another 0.6 miles to the beach. Long stretch of beach. No shade. Difficult reach to the beach with stuff.

Novice/casual hiker, and we're looking to ramp up our milage. So we took the advice of Lori M. (below) and added some length. Hopefully this will provide tips for fellow non-pro hikers. :) We arrived at about 8am and the TH and it was EMPTY. The trail to the beach is mostly dense marsh/forest land and it's gorgeous. TONS of animal scat and very recent elk activity, probably just early that morning. The trail heads out to the beach and its under 2 miles. We followed the previous comments and headed down the beach a bit and then up through the big trees (it's the 3rd big tree if you turn left and head south on the beach). That takes you back up to the coast trail. I believe you could actually just stay on that trail when you hit the restrooms before the beach. But anyways.......... It was a super hot day and the coastal trail to the Fire/Laguna trails and then taking that Fire trail was a bit rough on an 80+ degree morning. Fire trail is a fairly steep incline up and then down with very little shade. As we got closer to the TH by the hostel, and as it got later in the morning, we passed a lot of folks. If you add this part on to the hike, you will have to go through the parking lot and down the road to get back to the Muddy Hollow TH. If we do this again, we'll do it in reverse and to the Fire trail to the Coastal trail to the beach and then catch the Muddy Hollow trail at the end of the day. The actual Muddy Hollow portion of the trail we did was flat, super easy, very shaded, and would be a great ending to the day. We left at noon and when we got back to the car, the lot was PACKED, and streams of cars were coming in. I HIGHLY suggest doing this trail early to get the best out of it.

Started from Perth Way & went clockwise. Steep uphill leg there is mostly exposed, but thereafter there is a fair amount of shade. A fair stretch from the recommended trailhead is overgrown (although always clearly discernable), and with poison oak (so long pants advised). Great view from Point Reyes Hill, so do make that little side jaunt that is in the recommended route.

Easy dog friendly trail to a wonderful, peaceful beach. Google map times a bit under-estimated as the roads are rough and full of curves, but there's nothing wrong with slowing down and enjoying the scenery.

Nature tripsGreat!

Great trail and very peaceful beach. My husband and our 15 year old daughter took our two dogs. Beautiful drive. Plan what you need to carry in because you’ll have to carry it out too. The path in is well marked but becomes more sandy as you get closer to the beach. Wagons or strollers would not be recommended.

Seems longer than what it is estimated to be, but that could also just be me haha. Despite this, I found it to be very unique to Marin: encompassing cows, rolling hills, and a cute beach with a marsh at the tip of Creamery Bay.

There were a lot of diverse views and wildlife. We walked to the lagoon and continued on to the beach and got all the way to the ocean. It was a great reward for the trudging through the sand. Very little shade.
