Good hike—stunning views of Tomales Bay, Bodega Bay and south to Drakes Bay. Mild incline about a mile into the hike, but easy hiking on the maintained trail. The last half mile on the unmaintained stretch is a narrow, sandy channel through scratchy foliage, so long pants are a plus, but the view is worth the effort. Lots of Tule elk, we also saw a fox and a coyote as well as birds galore. Be aware that the whole hike is exposed, so take water and keep that in mind as regards clothes. Hike this! It’s awesome.

This is a super easy hike and very scenic, but long as everyone says. You will get up close and personal with the elk and the birds at the end. I give it 4 stars because there is no water refill stations in the park at all and bathrooms are scarce. But this hike in particular is great.

It is one of my favorite beach. Beautiful. You can walk or run miles and miles, left and right. Lots of people, kids playing, people riding horses along the beach.

Just a short hike to the lagoon but you can hike more if you want to explore in the beach. We saw coyote and deer.

It is beautiful beach. Good if you just want to hang out in the beach. Very short walk. Lots of jellyfish.

Was an easy hike and the views are breathtaking!

It took us just under four hours to hike this out and back trail. The views were stunning and we saw many elk as well as a wolf. We enjoyed the hike even though it was raining for about half of the way to the point. The cliffs were a beautiful sight and the sun sparkling on the ocean was beautiful.

One of my top favorite trail, very scenic. Lots of Elks. I love the cliffs at the end of the trail, very relaxing and peaceful. Highly recommended.

Awesome hike. Lots of elk, especially when you make it to the watering hole. That last mile of sandy trail wears you out though. But the cliffs are worth it. Highly recommended.

Sunday late am - early pm. Hiked the loop counter-clockwise. Note short stretch of unpaved road to trailhead. After brief stretch of gravel access road at beginning of hike, the western leg becomes a lovely path through the woods, gently undulating, some shade/some sun. Encountered deer and quail, few people. No shade as you approach the ocean. Toilets at Limantour parking lots. Walked along beach on southern leg then cut up to Coast Trail (look for lone tree at low spot in the dune). Eastern leg of loop is mostly gravel road with one short shady stretch; lovely scenery but more exposed and can be hot. I will probably do out-and-back on Muddy Hollow trail next time. Enjoyed the variety (woods, wetlands, beach) on this easy walk.

A very hot, though peaceful, hike. No wildlife spotting. Walked around the beach for a bit, since it was low tide — it was okay.

Many Elk. Very minimal inclines. Many children and elderly on the trail. Went barefoot the last mile or so in the sand. One of the calmest and most serene 10 milers in my experience

Moderate and flat trail ends at a beach and great for a picnic. Beautiful scenery lots of tule elk and wildflowers! This is my favorite trail I’ve ever done!

Beautiful views along the way and at the end of the trail. Fairly easy walk along a dirt/ sand path. Unmaintained area was not difficult to navigate w long sleeves and pants. Took us under 5 hours round trip w a stop for lunch.

Beautiful views all around. Easy hike. Lots of wildlife!

My first real hike.. Be prepared for miles of sand hiking on the last leg and on the return!! The views will be well worth it!!

Good for a relatively quick hike down to Pebble Beach. Views when down by the bay lovely — less interesting higher up.

We went in August and it was still pretty chilly. Loved the views! Not a lagoon you can bathe in but still worth the views

Beautiful hike! Get to the trailhead earlier for parking (8 or 9am), and to see the elk, deer, and rabbits. Went yesterday and it was foggy on our way out, but was burning off on the way back — both ways, it was still gorgeous. Wear layers and bring lots of water. The last stretch to the ocean cliff view is uphill and deep sand trail so your shoes will be filled!

Awesome little lighthouse and views. Enjoyed this but enjoyed it even more from the water looking up!

Great trail with beautiful coastal ocean views. But best of all is that you get to see Elks! I’m glad I read other reviews here about wearing long pants, good hiking shoes and bringing a jacket for the foggy mornings. Make sure to bring water and snacks because the hike takes about 4hrs round trip.

awesome hike, get there early and wear warm gear. you will hike through fog most of the hike. but the end well generally be sunny, amazing little watering hole where the elk all hangout. I found driving from San Francisco at 6am made me one of the first people there. but it fills up and gets very busy!

I walked this trail on a weekday out to the ocean, it is easy just like all trails said but once you get out to the ocean it’s like you are the only one on the beach, you can go miles and miles north or south with no other people around, only birds and crabs.

You can only take this trail slightly past the turnoff for Drake's Head Trail. After that, it's overgrown brush that's 5' tall. I tried to force my way through the trail, but gave up once I had to resort to crawling through the brush. The rest of the trail is stunning!

GREAT view!

had a great day. dog oneash, kids running in the waves. the isopods were spawnong so the anchovies were out eating the eggs. all the pelicans and sea lions were out to eat the anchovies. amazing feaat of life. we also saw a coyotes and a red shoulder hawk just on the road. because of the restrictions on dogs we drove in except for the last bit to the beach where we walked with packs and had a picnic. totally would reccomend.

End of August or early September .... great time to observe ELK during rutting season. Get to the trailhead early ... parking lot fills quickly. And being early on the trail is best for seeing ELK.
