Trying to reach the summit here is like climbing the waterfall upstream. Took us 17 hours (round-trip) without reaching the summit.

This was an amazing trail, the views of Shasta were spectacular even through the smoke. Not being super fit and living at sea level made it a bit rough at times but very doable. We hung out at the creek and ate before heading back down and back at the trailhead we even got to free a bear that locked itself in the bathroom LOL! Keep that door shut!

So beautiful! We visited on the 4th of July. Perfect weather, and I can see why this meadow is regarded as sacred by so many.

Challenging hike for sure. We started at Bunny Flats and made it to Hellen Lake campground, but couldn't go any further without a helmet, ice pick, and cramps.

Past Bunny Flat and to all but the end of Everitt Memorial Highway on Mt. Shasta, this is a short out and back through the meadows near the lower parking area for the Old Ski Bowl. Great view of the mountain from here. Good information on visiting Panther Meadows: https://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/stnf/home/?cid=stelprdb5360169

Great views - I think this is the nicest part of Panther Meadows - view of Shasta, over a field of flowers and a small stream. Easy hike but amazing views

I have climbed Mt Shasta via Casaval Ridge after spending one afternoon at Horse Camp. In 9 hours climb time, Shasta weather change fourth times, from beautiful moon on 2am departure time to snow and white out to summit on 50 miles/h wind.
Be prepare for everything, don't rush the climb if you want to summit. Don't pick unnecessary stuff on climb. Success is a combination of multiple things done correctly. Out of all attempts on Shasta only 36% are successful.

In my beginning days in the mountains this was the place to be for me. A great experience and long slog with not much in the way of variation or interest. Just getting up this can be a bear for people even in great shape. On either side you see Shasta's so ridges which offer a little more fun earlier in the year. Don't rush yourself and the mountain will come to you, thats thew best attitude to get to the summit or just Helen Lake as the route here is so titled.

Snow trip to summit - crazy weather. Stopped at thumb rock (13000ft) due to conditions (it was blowing! and a storm was coming in). Great couple of days, hope to get back and get to the summit.
