Trails are not really marked and over grown. Lots of trash on trail was so sad to see. Probably not going again.

I’m sorry this was not fun at all. There’s literally poison oak scattered all over the “trail” almost impossible to avoid touching it. Also there’s no clear trailhead, no clear trail, and it’s all slanted/uneven path through sand, i wouldn’t call it a hike. It’s also completely in the sun with no shade offered at all. At one point the trail just disappears and you have to turn back. And it’s $12 to get in and park. Everything is dead and brown, it’s not pretty besides a view of the lake about a half mile away. I will not be going back.

Nice trail. Could be confusing at times about which direction to go. On an early Sunday morning, there was very few people out. Trail is narrow and must be done single file for the most part. Lots of animal (horse and other) excrement on the path.

Nice trail along Folsom Lake. Pretty hot in mid July but close enough to the lake in a couple spots that you can take a pit stop and swim to cool off. Lots of poison oak. Beautiful trail.

Too close to road. Short and poorly marked. Would not recommend.

easy, relatively flat hike along the edge of Folsom lake. Beautiful views of the lake. Best time is in the morning while the sun is still east. There are A few beaches along the trail where you can stop and relax and take a swim too.

meh, lots of street noise, poison oak, and walking behind people's yards with dog barking. not relaxing.

The pros: There is free parking at the Sterling Point Equestrian Staging Area, however the gate closes at 7pm. I saw at least 2 picnic areas with tables along the trail.

The cons: the trail is steep going down from the parking area. It is also very narrow, so not suitable for running. Also, it’s a horse trail so there is lots of horse poop to watch out for as you walk. The trail is confusing at multiple points where it splits. Also it’s confusing because it is not marked on google maps like the state park trail. I didn’t hike the whole trial, once I was near the bottom, I cut across to the state park trail and the beach area. Coming back was confusing since I had to walk through brush to get back on the horse trail.

was a fun walk with my friends. but it was difficult finding the trails and there weren't any posted trail maps along the way.

Beautiful trail.. perfect weather! Great views.. Watch out for poison oak.

Maybe it's the time of year, I don't know, but I was bored from start to finish of this hike. I followed the main trail to the point and had to stop constantly for bikers. It was so boring and ugly I decided to walk back along the water on the return trip to the car. It was mostly that nasty slimy mud and sticks. I didn't enjoy it.

Pretty, fairly easy. Nice view of the water at times. Watch out for runners and bicyclists.

Enter the Folsom lake recreational area from the entrance at the end of Douglas. Right now it was 12$ for the day pass. There is a road and signs that take you right to the trailhead. We arrived around 8 am and it was the perfect time to do this trail during the heat. It was pretty shaded for most of the hike with a few views of the lake. There were a lot of bikers but every single one was very polite and courteous. Took a couple detours that added to the distance and it ended up being about 6 miles in total. Pretty simple and had just a few ups and downs. All in all a successful hike! Would do again.

Just a heads up, don't follow the directions that are placed into this app (when you click directions), because it leads you to a private neighborhood that is gated and you can't enter to get to the trailhead. Will post another review after actually completing the hike. Enter through entrance to Folsom lake rec area at end of Douglas

Road to the North side of lake closed. Started from granite bay main beach. The area is very dry but no bugs. Dip in the lake for a quick swim you won't regret it!
