Lightly used trail through woods up to great vista of sonoma. Sneaky long but steady climb. I ran the trail. Single track mountain biking allowed.

This trail was a fun 3.5 hour hike. It combines what the parks brochure calls the London lake trail (a 2 mile moderate) into the full 8 mile Park Summit Trail listed as “strenuous.”

At times it could be decently steep, with loose terrain in places. We went in May and did not experience any ticks, biting bugs etc. The trail itself was well groomed and the park was easy to navigate. The view from the top was worth the hike. Upon decent through the multiple high-altitude Meadows we came across many deer, a small non-poisonous snake and other wildlife.

had a great hike it ended up being a little over 9 miles, the trails are not marked the best and there was a lot of ticks . But it was still a very good workout hike lots of incline and decline. I loved the peek a boo views through the trees, it was a great shaded hike.

Great light trail with plenty of benches, water, and even a porta potty along the way. Great for leashed dogs, or leave them at home and explore the museums. This trail would definitely be considered stroller friendly as well, as the majority is paved.

great and enjoyable moderate hike: forest, fruit trees, vineyards. superb views on the valley from the ridge

Great hike!, the view from the top is worth it all and you passed through a bunch of beautiful Redwood stands and cross a couple small Creeks before you get to some open Meadows with lots of beautiful oak trees.

Came for a day hike! Beautiful redwood trees! It is a nice strong solid hike lots of places to stop to rest. Beautiful places to take pictures. It was very damp and cold. Wear layers. Very peaceful!

We started at the Vineyard Trail, followed by the Coon Trap Trail. Much of the ascent was on the coon Trap Trail. Once reached to top it was a gradual downward slope through the beautiful woods. It was a great hike.

Agree with the review below that total length is 8 miles from parking lot ($10). Beautiful mostly shaded trail with wide open at the top and nice views. Rec hiking shoes. If you're looking for a good lunch spot after, Benzinger Winery is just down the road and allows your to bring your own picnic!

Overall nice trail and mostly shaded. I recommend long pants as there are currently goatheads on the trail. Sun protection is also a must during summer as there is little to no shade at the top. Overall a nice hike with some local history.

Start at parking lot and follow Lake Trail to Mountain trail. Mostly shady, steeper and sunny at the Summit. Saw deer. Beautiful! Interesting information about Jack London in Cabin.

The coon trail is currently closed for restoration. It was too steep and hard to follow. I turned around and retraced my steps for a total of 10 miles. An awesome trail run! Beware of spider webs as you run. I was the first on the trail for the day and ran into several.

Absolutely stunning! A bit muddy in spots from recent rains, but doable and so worth the trek to the summit.

Overall the hike was wonderful.

Next time, I would hike the loop clockwise. We completed the hike counter clockwise causing the steeper elevation difference in the decent versus the assent. It was tough going down hill.

Also, although high enough in elevation to have the view, the surrounding trees and vegetation hindered the view.

The weather was delightful and the canopy of the trees keep things shaded and cool.

The loop wound up being 10.3 versus 8.3 miles, so take into consideration.

Well groomed trails.

Beautiful views! Moderate is correct. We started at the North Sonoma Mountain trail head and walked all the way into Glen Ellen for lunch. We set up a shuttle back to the trail head. Second time on this trail and I plan on more. Start early it gets hot!

Tough hike, not too bad up to the lake, then it gets a little gnarly. Make sure to bring your own water and a snack. Late August - keep your eyes out for ripe blackberries EVERYWHERE!

Went hiking with my husband and two small kids. Very pretty hike, the lake was a little depressing since there was no lake. Check out my hike in more detail at chasquimom.blogspot.com. Look under Bay Area Hiking
