Fremont, California Map

I do this trip often. Its a good wide trail, good incline and lots of cows to see!

I’ve done this hike many times, and it’s always great. Parking on Mission is free.

My favorite place for an evening run after work.

Easy and nice trail. Good for a group with little kids. There is an unpleasant odor for some part of the trail.

It should be classified as Easy, nice view of lake.

Good place to walk, jog or cycle if not too crowded

Very enjoyable! Took my 68+ uncles and aunt here and they completed it with ease. We actually did the whole loop it was about 4 miles total. Awesome photo op at the peak of the hill.

I've done this trail a number of times in the last few years. It's always a good workout, best be wary of the sun in summer.

Gorgeous, long and mostly flat. Saw lots of local water fowl. My partner and I had our small dog with us, it was really great for her given that there were few distractions (aka people and other dogs) for the majority of the hike. There was minimal shade, so be sure to bring lots of water and sunscreen.

Great hike! Amazing views...

Beautiful trail, good for beginners!

Cows are the best part of this hike, and the view of the city.

Very easy. Great to get away from the hustle and bustle of Fremont.

So this is the second time I’ve been to Mission Peak and the first time hiking took me 5.5 hours. That was 4 years ago. I promised myself to destroy that time this time around. The Peak Trail leading up to Mission Peak is quite steep although there are some parts that are runnable. Mostly no shade so I’m kinda glad it was very cloudy when I went but also no views to see! I was able to power hike my way up and run down in under 2 hours (time crushed!). Definitely have to bring your own water/snacks and I was surprised there was even a bathroom halfway up. The fire trail is quite wide but once near the peak, the rocks get really loose and it may be difficult to find your footing climbing up. Running down was just so much fun! After the power hike, it feels so rewarding to be able to fly down the mountain in less than half the time! Definitely a must do if you’re in the area! Parking is abundant at Ohlone College especially when school is not in session!

Always the best challenge when getting back to hiking! A must for the books

If you're just hiking the first 3 miles to mission peak, that is a 5 star hike with a great view. But the full 15 mile round trip to the memory tree gets 2 stars.

The good:
- steep inclines and elevation are a good workout
- beautiful view of the South Bay at beginning and end

The bad:
- trail is 99% sun with no shade
- the middle stretch is flat, boring, and dusty with only view of dead grass
- mile 5-7 is littered with cow pies

Great trail and the view from the top is really nice.
I prefer this trail over Standford one as this has some shade, trees in the beginning of the trail, make it more pleasant to hike.

Decent trail for casual evening walk. Very little shade.

I did this trail early in the morning and because of that there was so much fog, and couldn’t see much but the birds and ducks were enjoyable to see. The walk takes you along the lake and to Niles Beach which was nice. I prefer walking in the woods so that’s why I gave this a 4 Star.

This was a breathtaking hike. I loved seeing the animals and birds along the way. On my trail up the hill I saw a herd of sheep being moved through the mountain which is a rare sight to see because they all walk behind one another. There must have been 200 of so if them herding. I even saw a Mama and her baby. Beautiful sight and views are spectacular! After finishing the hike I ended up hiking 3.2 miles as I parked outside the gate. Before 8am.

Sep 2. Bring lots of water, chapstick, and sunscreen. I didn’t finish the loop because the incline was intense.

I think the information here about this hike is incorrect, If you measure the length of the trail from the trailhead near the parking lot to the summit on Google you will see that this is a 6.8 mile hike. Also, it was not a loop but an out-and-back hike. The hike is pretty exposed but there is a section that has some shade.

I did the cliff trail to deer gulch and then took a left to the 0.4 mile trail.
In general there is no parking and no entrance at the spot listed here. You need to drive to the start which is Morrison Canyon rd.
There is space for maybe 4 cars there.

The cows are fine, I saw lots of shit but they hide under the trees when it is sunny.
The trail is 95% sun and 5% shade.
I had 2 -3 bicycles in a hurry, I am sure there are more on weekends.

All in all it was ok. I took my kid in a baby bjorn. It was more of an exercise due to the high steep incline than a joy.
The heat was also oppressive even at 3-4PM .
The view is nice though.

Have fun.

I’ve been on this trail twice now and prefer it to the main entrance of Mission Peak. 1) There is more parking 2) there is more shade and switchbacks, making it less difficult. There is 1 bathroom on the trail as well. Once you get to the top it’s a beautiful view!

Good hike! Great view from the summit!
