A little rocky at the end. Daughters (9,5&3) completed it. 5 and 3 year old did 98% walking including the rocky parts.

First 1.5 miles easy and relatively shady. Last part was a little rocky, light scramble. Definitely would not call the entire trail as easy. It is a nice trail for the entire family with a nice reward at the end.

Great hiking trails

Great day!!

They need more parking spots!

Great trail, kid friendly, once you get to Red Rocks trail gets narrow and rocky (not stroller friendly). We got there in the morn & there were a lot more bikers than when we came down a few hrs later. Just stay to the right of the path. Also, there was no parking in the small lot so we parked by the gas station but saw a lot of people park across the street too.

Easy hike through Borrego, got a little more difficult toward Red Rocks. Pretty busy, but good weather in the early morning. Lots of bikers on Borrego, so be careful if you’re hiking. Some parts of Red Rocks Trail is overgrown, so wear pants if you can. Parking is $3, but it’s a very small lot.

Saw lots of people out. The trail was slightly over grown and a few people reported snakes. We did this with our the kids ages 8 and 10.

This is a pretty easy trail with only a little uphill. This trail is also packed, at least for as long as you are on the Borrego Canyon Trail. However, the trail that leads to Red Rock Canyon is no as busy. If you go around midday as I did, bring plenty of water since, even though there is some shade it is still fairly hot.

We started our hike on Borrego Canyon Trail. Trail is easy. The trail will end up splitting into trail. There will be signs and a map for you to read. We wanted to see Red Rocks so we went on that trail instead of The other trail which is Mustard. That trail leads to the top for an amazing view. It is difficult according to the sign.

Loved this trail! It was shaded for the most part and love that the path is well kept and just so beautiful to walk through.

Big rattlesnake on Billy Goat trail.

Fully open. Cool trail system.

Moderate hike up the hill. There were 4 O.C Parks people weed-whacking the tall yellow weeds. The trail is now clear. Great view of Red Rock Canyon from above.

Amazing hike, it took us almost 3 hours, 4.5 miles to go all the way to the red rocks and come back. It was a very nice busy hike with lots of bikes. Really enjoyed this way.

Great family or beginner hike tucked into suburban OC. For turn by turn video and images, check out the guide on HikingGuy com

This park has many of the features you will see of other nice hiking areas in SoCal, but what makes it different is Red Rock Canyon. For my full trip report with video, pics, information and story go to my blog: https://orangecountyhiking.home.blog/2020/04/23/whiting-ranch-wilderness-park/

Unbelievably beautiful, very easy trail and lots of shade. A great workout and perfect for kids, bring lots of water with this heat. Quite a few bikers so keep an ear out for them behind you. 10/10 recommend

Extremely overgrown vegetation’s, some taller than my eye sight. Feels quite uncomfortable walking it due to wild life. Definitely will not go back till fall till I can see more than 2 feet in front of me!
