on Grays Peak Trail

Beautiful hike. Not very shady. Can be quite hot during midday. We went in the late afternoon. A good option to consider.

Beautiful trail but don't go mid day. Hanna Flats all the way up to Gray's Peak is not worth the view at the top.

Hiked this trail today with our 8 and 5 year old kids. We made it about 1.5 miles up (elevation change of about 250 feet). We stopped at the turnoff for the Gray's Peak trail. Kids complained, but that's what kids do. I'd say it was a moderate hike. Nice way to spend an afternoon. Lots of views of the lake along the hike.

Loved this trail. Hiked with my 16-year old daughter and my black lab.
Fun and great views!!!!

Easy, very fun drive. Would not recommend stock cars for a few rocky areas, but stock SUV's are fine. If you are looking for great views and solitude, this road delivers.

My first 14er, the challenging hike was worth the views !

Great hike. Wasn’t able to make it the whole way because of a large thunderstorm.

Great hike that is 7 miles with a gradual uphill climb. Great for a morning or late afternoon. Also kid friendly if your kids have been out hiking a few times.

The views and scenery on this trail are top notch; you won't be disappointed. We started it in the late afternoon and came down at sunset; the conditions were perfect. It ended up being around 7.2 miles for us, not 6.4 as this listing shows.

Moderate to Difficult. Took me an hour and 45 minutes, but we'll worth the views at the end.

it's everything you'd expect from Big Bear fresh air pines swaying clear skies and Epic views of BB lake... they say thiers 300 days a year of Sunshine Up here its true, love this part of my World

Did Gray's Peak this morning. it's currently open for the season, it opened during the memorial day weekend. it's a great 7.5 mile round trip hike and I definitely recommend. It's a moderate to difficult hike with a lot of shade. located in Fawnskin (north of big bear lake)

Easy drive for a stock Jeep and great view of the lake. It’s perfect for a first time driver

Nice off road trail for beginners

this trail is currently CLOSED as of December 1st until june or july next year. it is a breeding ground for bald eagles and the forest service has banned people from entering that part of the mountain. they will fine the people who ignore the notices and still hike the trail. Butler Peak trail is open and only about a mile further into Fawnskin.

Good distance, incline, nice view!

great mellow hike, beautiful views, good elevation gain. trail is super easy to follow.

Really Nice Trail. Well maintained. Perfect for jogging or walking your dog. Open views, everything is nicely spaced and it has great views of the lake and surrounding areas.

This hike was well rounded! Scenery is beautiful. It is moderate in difficulty. Great distance. Wanted something different than Couger Crest so this was perfect! Will definitely do again.

Hanna Flats campground website says 7.8 miles. Alltrails estimate is definitely correct (12.2 miles). Steady incline, well marked trail, nice footing, nice views along the way. We took the dogs and stopped for lunch and water breaks for the dogs and took us about 6 or 7 hours. expect to come across mountain bikers on the trail the last couple of miles.

Great mountain and lake views from the north side of Big Bear lake. It's a long hike but worth the views at the end. Parking pass is required.
