I hiked this series of trails last Thursday, 9-26-19. Excellent weather: sunny (but not hot - mid 70's) and not a cloud in the sky, with a light breeze blowing in the afternoon. I saw a few people by Feeley Lake at the beginning, and a few more at the end -- otherwise, I had the entire trail to myself for the day. I recommend taking the Glacier Lakes trail towards Glacier Lake - there is some elevation gain but it's fairly gradual. Best part is coming up the rise about 10 minutes before you arrive at Glacier Lake -- you are greeted by the Black Buttes right in front of you, and it is awesome! Afterwards, continue the circuit up onto Sand Ridge Trail -- again, some elevation gain, but not terrible. Amazing views from the top of the ridge in all directions. I dipped my feet in at Glacier Lake while eating lunch and it was pretty dang cold, which is no surprise because it's fed by snowmelt from a patch about 500 feet away from the edge of the lake. On the way back I detoured to Round Lake for a moment and contemplated jumping in for a swim but by then the breeze had picked up a bit and I decided against it. Saw multiple fish jumping in both of these lakes. The road between Bowman Lake Rd and Carr campground is passable in a high clearance vehicle, no 4WD necessary. The last mile +/- of the road is the worst, just gotta take it slow. I got bit a mosquito in the first half hour walking past one of the swampy ponds between Feeley and Island Lakes. Other than that, didn't see any bugs the whole day.

Beautiful. A few campers along the short path. Beautiful swimming hole.

trail is in great condition and has excellent views and also a beautiful valley at lower elevations. That being said it is waaaaay out there and probably not a destination in itself, but definitely do the trail if you are staying at Robinson Flat. Mileage can be extended on the WST either east or west.

Easy little nature walk to the pools. Very crowded on a Sunday of a 3-day weekend. Water was very chilly, but beautiful. The pool closest to the river is icy cold, whereas the further area with a jumping rock is a tad less cold.

Probably wouldn’t consider this a hike, just a short walk to the swimming hole. This place is literally a hidden gem though. Went early and there weren’t many people, but by the time I left around 11 it was starting to get crowded. Don’t forget to go past the swimming hole and walk through the gorge!

If you just keep going and following the markers; this trail has about 1/3 mile flat, 1/3 mile hilly and 1/3 rock climbing. Tons of rappellers and climbers. I wish I had known this and came more prepared.

We hiked to the pools, which was an easy hike; I’d say .5 miles maybe. But, then we backtracked a bit and took an unmarked trail with a 2.0 mile sign a little ways up, but we weren’t sure where it went. Trail was not clearly marked. There were a few steep climbs, some switchbacks, loose rock and shale, and plenty of shade. A lot of variety in scenery. On the way back (b/c we weren’t sure where we were going), we took a detour to go down to Jordan creek to cool off. Overall a pleasant hike with great scenery, but we would have line to know where the trail led.

So clean! Refreshing water. Saw one water snake that kept to itself.

Beautiful hike! Crystal clear waters and unique red rocks under water. You don't have to stop the hike at the emerald pools. The trail keeps going! Lots of areas to swim and there is even a waterfall off trail after you pass the pools.

Great, morning

Great trail. Trail head park is 0.5 miles further in than All Trails indicates. Drive in to trail head is super rough. I would do this hike again. Views on Penner and Island lake are wonderful and early morning is amazing. High trail view of Island is spectacular.

Great trail in the middle of no where. Start early , and take your time exploring. Not many people on weekdays, if any. Don’t tell your friends , keep it a hidden gem! Did Sasquatch beat the hell out of all the signs?

Absolutely beautiful! Rocks are a tad slippery when wet, but many different spots to jump into the water. Very short flat dirt trail to the water. Water was a little chilly, but felt good after being in for awhile. Dog friendly.

Late July 2019. Easy walk to main pool, rock climbing to the other sections. Water shoes helpful.

The water was pristine. The area had a lot of families during the day, but if you scramble on the rocks beyond the main pool, then you can have some solitude. Extremely easy hike to main pool. The cold water was really refreshing in the hot weather. We lit a campfire during the evening because there's tons of mosquitos. You MUST get a "California campfire permit"; it's free online, and only takes 15 minutes. PS- There was no trash, zero trash.
