Emigrant Gap, California Map

The mileage is wrong as well as the trail marked on this map. Just look at the sign in the picture.
What is shown is starting at Robinson Flat, you go up, turn right at intersection which runs into a road (turn left) that leads to Duncan Peak Fire Lookout. then it goes back down Road that intersects the 93 Road (turn Right) which leads back to Robinson Flat.
If you turn left at the first trail intersection, you follow that down and around where you turn left where it intersects with the Western States Trail which leads back to Robinson Flat.
There is delicious, cold, fresh water in the middle of the meadow at Robinson Flat.

Dont rely on the google maps link for directions to the trail head. When you get to the camp ground at the end of the road, just park there. The alltrails trail map is off, as one half is a dirt road. The real loop is about four miles (per the sign at the beginning) and does not have any dirt road hiking. If you decide to head off to the fire lookout, it adds another mile. Great views from the fire look out, the rest of the trail is pretty dry and uncovered lots of the way.

I actually did the longer Robinson Flat Trail, which is about 4.5 miles. And it was spectacular and not terribly difficult. I also went up Duncan Peak - a little side trail that would be easy to miss, but well worth the exploration. The views were incredible. You really feel like you are at the top of the world. This hike deserves more than five stars.
