My favorite waterfalls ever :)

There was construction on the trail. We had to ask the guy operating the backhoe to let us sneak by to the lookout over the river. Very dusty right now. Nice short hike right off the freeway for a pit stop!

Absolutely stunning! It’s a very easy hike but can be dangerous for obvious reasons. We originally hiked the Hedge Creek trail and tried to cross the river... it was extremely cold, but then again it is November. Just be careful and respectful. Pick up after yourselves and enjoy.

absolutely loved this short little hike to the falls! Took kids with me ages 4 to 14 and they all made the trek super easy. What a fun little adventure for the little ones who crawled in the cave and everything!

Very easy to get down to and back from. My eight year old was able to get under the waterfall and had a blast! Definitely worth a visit!

Hiked last weekend. Very beautiful and serene. Thankfully there was another group there once we went down from the view point, we weren’t sure where to go once we got to the river. Crossing the river was an adventure in itself. The water was cold and about thigh high, recommend water shoes it is very slippery. Awesome little hike.

Beautiful hidden gem. Nice little stroll to the falls and great view point at the end. Not crowded at all when we were there.

*Reviewed in Summer* I loved this hike! We went during the peak of the summer and there were plenty of people walking along the tracks. I’d recommend a hat and decent shoes, not sandals or flip flops as the rocks along the tracks can be sharp and difficult to walk on. I would NOT suggest taking dogs as those rocks can do some serious damage to their pads and the sun and lack of shade just aren’t a great combo for them.

Could be a beautiful and relaxing site if it weren’t swamped by rude, pushy tourists. There were about 100 people there early afternoon on the Sunday of the holiday. Overcrowded... might be better on a regular weekday when everyone is at work/school. Also, there was poison ivy everywhere so if you’re one of those rude, pushy people and you stepped in the wrong area, well you got your karma coming to you.

Went on this little hike a month ago and absolutely loved it! Not really a hike as you just follow train tracks on gravel until you reach the bridge. Right before the bridge you’ll see a little trail on the right hand side that will lead you down to the waterfall. Worth all the views!

****As Good As It Gets**** Beautiful , Zen, One of a kind! -Parked at the top of Hedge Creek Falls... walked to the bottom. Walk down and around Hedge Creek Falls the path continues down to a look-out. -Once at the look-out. Look down to the left side there’s a steep path that leads down. Take it down to the River. -Cross the river to the other side..... find the shallowest part of the river and cross there. You’ll see a path on the other-side. -Hike the path up to the railroad tracks...... Once you get to the top by the tracks make a RIGHT . -Walk along the river and the tracks a SHORT ways until you get to a bridge.... -DO NOT CROSS THE BRIDGE. -Mossbrae Falls it to the right......Just before the bridge to the right , theres a trail that goes down to the falls. There’s also two (2) rocks that have “Mossbrae Falls” carved on them. Fyi.... ——————————————————————————- This way is much shorter than the traditional way. It cuts off about 75% of the walking on the train tracks too . You dont hv to trespass either ( of course except when on the train tracks) ;) Just be careful there. Trains are very dangerous! Its worth the trek in there. Wouldn’t recommend this path for anyone wobbly on their feet. Enjoy , We did!

I didn’t do the 9 mile loop, but I hiked up to heart lake and beyond! The view from heart lake to castle lake, with mt Shasta in the background is breathtaking!

i crossed the water to checkout the other falls at mossbrae falls. the rocks are slippery but water only waist deep at most. followed the railroad tracks and went down right before the bridge. lots of people but it was AMAZING. highly recommend

Also read John Thomson's review 9 mos ago. As a destination, Mossbrae Falls should not be listed anywhere until a LEGAL and safe trail is constructed. Those of us with homes in Shasta Retreat are impacted daily by the throngs of people walking the middle of our single, narrow street or the endless vehicles driving in for drop offs / pick ups. It's a major nuisance and a real safety issue for this small, little neighborhood. The walk along the rr tracks is dangerous and ILLEGAL (deaths / forced train stops) with No Trespassing signs posted all around! Steady progress on a project for an extension from Hedge Crk Falls trail to Mossbrae is being made which you are encouraged to support. See updates @ https://mountshastatrailassociation.org.

Pretty busy and unfortunately after going to Middle Falls this one wasn’t quite as impressive. Definitely worth stopping with the family and checking out but if you want a similar hike with an incredible view/waterfall check out Middle Falls for sure!

Super short, easy hike to a pretty little waterfall. I recommend hiking to the lookout at the end of the trail, then down to the river and crossing to the other side and turning right to connect to the trail to Mossbrae Falls. Those are spectacular!

We went to Hedge Creek Falls and then hiked down to the river and crossed the river to connect with the trail in the other side. Water came up to mid-thigh at the deepest part, but totally doable. And then the falls... beautiful!!! We even swam in the super cold water. So fun! Lots of people, but totally worth it!
