Duarte, California Map

Dull stroll on a paved path bounded by Royal Oaks Rd and a flood control channel. On the other hand, it's popular and social, a place to stretch your legs and meet your neighbors.

Fun hike. I had to turn back 1.5 miles from the campground due to time constraints, but I'll definitely come back to complete the entire trip. I'd say it's more of a moderate hike aside from the distance. The elevation gains are fairly gradual until you get to Pacifico Mountain. Lots of sun exposure so be sure to bring a hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water. I went through 3L.

Beautiful hike plenty of shade too...

Did not enjoy, lots of trash, only nice part was seeing the horses.

OMG‼️ no breaks uphill. Great workout. Up and down. Take plenty of waiter and take your time Beautiful hike.

Great work out, my pup loves it !!
Not a lot of people
Super hard work out

I love this trail , also one of the best I’ve hiked in So Ca.. Very beautiful with so much vegetation. The creeks during the rain or right after is the best. It plays a great part for a more marvelously flowing waterfalls. Four tiers of it makes it magnificent.Watch out for cactuses though they’re everywhere. Trails are a bit narrow if you’re afraid of heights or falling stick to your left at all times. Parking is free! But unfortunately this trail has been CLOSED for nearly two years to be exact. I am totally waiting for it to reopen.

Loved this trail too bad it’s closed hopefully someday it’ll reopen

A beautiful trail, but a lot of bugs.

I did this hike on a sunny day in the mid-70s. It was bearable, but I can't imagine doing it on a hotter day, as there's basically no shade. The ascent and descent is not very exciting (it's on a fire road), but the 360 view from the summit is worth it.

The track on this page is a bit off, and the elevation gain is a way off. (As of now it shows 3,592 feet; I recorded only 2,907 feet.) Other websites and books show the same or similar elevation gain. Also, you will not be able to find the summit if you follow the track on this page. To find it, follow these instructions from John W. Robinson's book, "Trails of the Angeles":

"After just 4 miles of steady climbing, Mount Bliss comes into view ahead; you pass under some power lines and reach a junction with a service road that branches off to the right. Take this service road, and after 100 feet, look for a narrow use trail leading to the left through the shrubbery; follow it a short distance up to a ridge and continue on to the summit."

Súper incline good work out not for kids

How are you guys getting on the trail?

Really fun hike when the creek is running high. Wonderful scenery along the trail. Highly recommending this hike.

We hiked this the day after the trail reopened. The trail was poorly maintained, and there was no water in the falls.

Flat and boring, but I didn't know about the upper trail until reading another review. So, look for the upper trail and do not go in the heat of the day! There isn't much shade. I would do this walk in the evenings if I lived within walking distance, but it's not really worth a drive.

This is one of my favorite trails in San Gabriel Valley.

The trail head is a little hard to find and not well kept when u start out. The beginning of the trail is the greatest elevation gain and will kick your butt if your not used to hiking, make sure and save some energy for going up it on the way back! The trail was cool, a little boring but did have a nice waterfall at the end. The one downside to the trail was the ticks, I had about 3 or 4 on me about half way through.

I'm distraught that this trail has been destroyed by the fire. It was one of the best waterfall hikes in Socal.

Friday, June 24, 2016

The trail has been consumed by the San Gabriel Complex fire (all of it).. No report yet as to when it will re-open, but it will be months if not years. This is truly devastating
