A short walk that can be done no matter how hot it is, which does come in handy in summer. Pretty rock formations around and we saw a rather impressive chuckawalla lizard.

It is a short and very easy trail. It does have some very interesting and beautiful rock formations. Great for taking pictures. The information signs are very informative and interesting.

Best hike we did in Joshua Tree. AllTrails says it’s an in and out but when you arrive there is a loop trail marked, take the Loop!!! The backside of the loop drops you into a valley that is far better then the famed Hidden Valley Trail. Start early and you will see tons of wild hares and rabbits. Parts are in the wash that can be a little confusing so just keep an eye out for the trail signs...if your unsure just push on slightly looking for the signs, if in doubt double back and try another wash, just stick with it. Super secluded, we saw no one on our 2.5 hour walk.

Maybe I missed what was special about this, but I would personnally skip it. It's not very different then other small hike in the area. Of course if you are camping there, why not?

It's a short trail but maybe the most interesting one.

Actually I didn't find this rock like a cap. Not as interesting as many other rooks in this park. However, it's luck that we saw some people climbing the rock beside the trail. They are great!

Easy hike to neat forgotten vehicles and mill

Nice path and great sunset viewing

Great rock formations, lots of lookouts, and some different path compositions through the trail.

This was one fun trail with family. Multiple peaks overlooking Salton sea and 360 degrees breath taking views. Passing the mine and walking counterclockwise in the loop through the wash back to the parking lot.
I would say an hour and a half hike (walking time).

Worth a visit for a ghost town atmosphere, but if you plan on traveling to Death Valley make your way to Rhyolite for something much more impressive.

we only had one afternoon to check out this park as we were staying with family while on vacation in palms springs. Great views and some interesting old mining memorabilia and debris. Very cool hike. wish we had the time to hike to the oasis. Not shaded so wear sun screen, and bring covering: hat, lightweight long sleeve, etc.

A nice quick trek into a cool mill site area. There is an abandoned windmill and loader vehicle to see, both are very cool. There is also a dry well near the mill site. This is a great hike and, now that I'm looking at the map, likely better if you combine it with the Barker Dam trek. Enjoy!

The trail is hard to follow as it seems to lead to a few dead ends. There are a couple old brick houses (part of the ranch?) to see which was fun.

The Park rated this moderate but it was basically easy. The trail isn’t marked hardly at all. We asked someone passing us if we were heading the correct way and on our way out others asked us the same. The gold mill was neat but not worth it for us.

A short and easy hike through some interesting rock formations and vegetation. The informational signs in the area are pretty neat. There’s fun to be had scrambling around the rocks.

The trail isn’t really labeled until you get up close, but it’s in the White Tank campground.

Definitely more “touristy” due to the short length and ease of the hike, but still fun to see. Would recommend doing this either earlier or later in the day to beat or follow the crowds as there is sometimes some congestion around Arch Rock.

I did this as part of the Lost Palms Oasis hike and would definitely recommend doing the two of these together, as they offer some great views of the southern side of the park and the environment beyond. The path up to the very top of the peak is just a bunch of boulders that need to be scrambled over, but it isn’t very challenging and is very much worth it. The view from the top is absolutely amazing.

short trail but hike around the arch for more views

Great views. It was super sunny and we all got sunburnt on our hike. Easy to do with kids.

We seemed to have taken the route opposite to most of the other hikers and there were a few times we weren’t sure if we had lost the trail but all roads lead back to the parking. Neat to see all the weathered cars and old mill out in the desert.

Great kid friendly trail but easy to get lost if you get off the trail. There is an old building and rusted out car towards the beginning of the trail but you have to go off trail to see it. Just make sure you get back on the main trail after you go see it. Two other rusted out cars near the mill. Super cool and fun for kids.

Short hike but cool photo opportunity with the arch. If you feel adventurous there are rocks to scramble around. It’s a good hike to end the day.

Short easy hike with some opportunity for some cool easy rock climbing.

We took the first half of this loop on our way to Lost Palms Oasis. I thought this section was the best views as it's a nice climb up and down.

Short and sweet hike to a nice arch Rock! be early since parking is very limited

I added the Mastodon Peak Loop as Part of the hike to lost Palm Oasis. The Vista from the peak is spectacular.

easy but dank

Lots of scrambling on rocks. Hard to find but keep looking and you’ll get there. This is also a camp site. Beautiful rock formations. Pictures don’t do it justice. Easy to get caught up and get lost.... but easy also easy to find your way back
