I love the part of the hike that's in the refuge on the hill. Otherwise, I wasn't really feeling it. I'm more of a deep-in-the-forest hiker haha. But it really is beautiful and you'll definitely spot some wildlife out and about.

This is a well trafficked and paved trail. I wouldn’t say we hiked since it is paved I would say we walked. The trail is well maintained, running along the Monarch Beach Resort and Golf course, along the backside of some homes. I’d say mostly used by locals and hotel
guests. If you’re looking fora nature trail this isn’t that type of trail.

This was a decent trail. I suppose the moderate rating stems from the rugged terrain. If you're not bothered by knee/ankle issues tho it's a fairly easy walk. Not much incline at all. Making sure you're stepping an rocks that's won't move when you step on them was the biggest challenge. Loved the cave at the end!!! That was AWESOME!!!

Beautiful scenery, well maintained trail.

Great for road bikers. Rubbish for hikers.

Easy level with beautiful view and nice breeze!

Great hike with the kid!!

Relaxing hike, more like a nature walk.

Beautiful and easy

It is more rocky beach walk than trail, dicey footing- slow going to avoid twisted ankles. It was pretty, but there are better beach trails nearby.

Easy hike. Right along the beach and the cave was very cool at the end. Lots of rocks. Wear good shoes. Best to go during low tide.

Pretty rocky, but beautiful hike. Definitely make sure you go at low tide. Beautiful cave at the end. Did this hike with my 4 year old and almost 2 year old. My husband had to carry the little one the entire way. Definitely good to have a carrier. The 4 year old could manage.

First let me Start by saying you must come here when it's Pouring rain. The more rain, the more amazed you will be.

The Park itself is for a leisure mile loop, with a bunch of stairs to climb. They also have a small Dog playing area. You can see great Views of the Harbor on a nice day. My motivation was to get there when it rained and here is why, you must see the pictures to believe your eyes.

On the side of the Park on the street view end, the Rain creates a majestic Waterfall the pours down the Canyon. the more rain, the bigger the Falls.

Hope you have the chance to see it for yourself.

I went on my birthday after the rain and there's a small waterfall right close to the beach!

Nice little trail that ends at a sea cave! Make sure you check tidal charts, as trail is under water at high tide. Lot of rock scrambling!

Very pleasant hike along sandy trails through coastal brush. We did this hike as part of the longer Dana Point Headlands Trail. Beautiful views when we did the hike in the morning. We do it again another day closer to sunset. Should be outstanding.

A gentle walk over sand and rocks. Fantastic tide pools. Ideal and 5 stars if you have children...a fun family learning experience.. Some very fun caves.

Great for family, not such a hard walk but, it's not so fun when the tide is high.

OK - Laguna Beach has many beaches for sure. Thus far in my experience, this is the nicest and most scenic if you want to spend the good part of the day just hanging at the beach. Nice grass area, nice beach and very long, walking he beach is great, and yeah, there are a lot of surfers there, and the waves are great. If your bringing a lot of stuff with you, note, it is a ways to the beach (vertical more than length). I'm told at times there are $1 shuttles to the beach and back from the huge parking lot above. Which is another great thing you don't have to worry about - there is a huge parking lot right off Hwy 1. It costs $1 per hour though. Any kind of cash or credit cards work! Really, this is a no headache fabulous beach with easy parking.
Note - if you want to hike to Dana Point (and that's a great area too) - you really can not pass the headlands area in between the two areas without going up the hill, then back down again. At the end of Salt Creek Beach , you will note the switch backs to your left that take you up and over to Dana Point.
Note - this .gpx track takes you up for a drink at the Ritz Carlton Hotel (swank city) to an outside patio overlooking the ocean, then through the hotel to your parking lot.
