Doing the whole hike is super worth it. Other than some poison oak being present, the trail was very peaceful and a good workout at some points.

Good loop trail with great trees. Needs the road in upgraded. Worth the time

Nice trees near the river. We wish the county would blacktop the road to keep the dust down around the place, but it’s nice anyway

We loved this hike! They are in the process of upgrading the trail areas, but it’s still a great area to hike. Good loops for those who want to get back to their cars. No road noise and few people.

Beautiful hike , pretty easy but worth the drive . More used trail than I thought it would be. I was not disappointed

This is why you visit the Redwoods!
A walk along the Giants.

beautiful high beginners interpretive trail. It ends at a awesome spot by the creek. Nice short hike.

First time at the Redwoods and this trail did not disappoint. It is a little over 4 miles there and back. Fairly easy hike. The trail head is a little hidden and hard to spot. Right after the bridge, but tucked away a little.
We went in July and the weather was amazing. Mosquitos were plentiful and we saw several banana slugs.
There weren’t many people on it while we were there. The views of the beautiful river are amazing. So blue and green.
Well maintained trail with a lot of wooden steps and a couple bridges.

Not meaning to give this a bad review just didn’t
Know how else to leave a message. Further down Howland Hills Road towards the trail head it says “Rough narrow winding road for 6 miles Trailers not recommended” “no turnaround” so we didn’t want to enter with our RV. Very sad to miss out on this hike.

It was beautiful. at 75 and 66 we took our time. It took us just short of 4 hours. We did manage to out pace the couple with small children.
I would recommend.

loved this trail! It's an easy hike lots to see and gold mining history and even ends at a creek

Beautiful. Longer than 4.8 by a bit if you go to the falls. Even in late June not too crowded along the way and lush with ferns and other greenery. Trail does have a lot of exposed root along the way - just remember to stop and look up and around often and take it all in. Will be back frequently!

Once you get to the trailhead you can choose between a few different routes. We choose to hike straight back in and out trail to the beach access. The hike started with open prairie type land the about 1/2 in you were able to hike through forest. It was a beautiful trail, well used by horses, judging by the droppings. The beach access was amazing, we only saw one other person on the entire beach. We were able to hike with out 2 dogs. Beware that the terrain is mostly sand the whole hike.

great easy trail for all ages and skill , rolls along the water edge thru some huge trees , easy miles ..

nice forests , a waterfall .. good fun .. trails a bit rough in patches , but adds to the adventure

Love this trail. It's short and sweet, filled with wild flowers, small waterfalls and the river.

Start of trail pretty over grown.. We were looking for a trail to trike on .. this was not it

This is a gem. Quiet and meandering with fantastic trees, and the beautiful creek just downslope. Did it as an out and back trail run (with Houichi) - nice, cozy, runnable treadway with such nice flow to it. Nary a soul out there. Hiking or running, it is worth the journey.

Overwhelming beautiful. We did the hike in June and did not have any mud on the trail. There are large roots which require you to watch your footing often. Just remember to look up frequently as there is never a dull moment on this trail. We crossed 5 small bridges. The waterfall is at the turnaround. It took us about 3 hours as we stopped often to appreciate the scenery. We had hiked the Lady Bird Johnson Trail the previous day, this was much better! Saw about 15 people over the course of the whole trail, on a Saturday afternoon.

Beautiful trail but there is TONS of poison oak right now. Be careful.

Beautiful trail! It's tucked near the river and the redwood trees are absolutely breath-taking! My only complaint is that the drive to the trail is terrible. The road is very narrow and contains deep holes, which sets driving at 15 MPH.

Wonderful trail love it all scouts a must do

Easy walking hike. Beautiful trail with tons of redwood trees. Magical.

This is by far one of my favorite hikes. This trail runs beneath the canopy of old growth trees. It is well marked and carefully maintained. We'll definitely be back.

Beautiful redwoods at the beginning!

The water level obstructs your ability to walk up to the light house. The beach and flowers were beautiful though. There is also a pier that is .79 miles long that offers some good views of the lights house and harbor.

Lovely walk around the campground

Can’t ever go wrong hiking the beach sand dollars everywhere

Beautiful hike, shaded of course. A few small bridges over streams. We went in the middle of April and the trail was quite muddy so we were all happy we wore our hiking boots. It’s an in an out trail so we went about an hour and a half in and took us 40 minutes to get back out. Easy hike I would take all ages on!

An easy way to immerse yourself in an old growth redwood forest. a quiet forest, the sun's rays peek through and shine on a forest floor lined with sword ferns among the beautiful trees! Highly recommend this stop as this 44-acre grove is considered the heart of Jedidiah Smith Redwoods State Park. Also features a short spur to the river. Watch out for the skeeters.
