Great mixture of single track, wide trails and beach with no one around. Started out a liity rainy and surprised the sun came out. We saw a lot of elk on the hike and on the drive as well. Nice winter hiking because it frms up the sand and is a little faster and easier. I din't try any pics because the app keeps locking me out when I do.
Suzanne G. on Crescent Beach Loop Walk
Amazing beach walk; really nice! Easy access off Hwy 101, a paved parking area with restrooms, trash and recycling receptacles and a few picnic tables, some of which were "accessible"...We found it to be our favorite beach in the Crescent City area; the sand was immaculate, sand dollars were prevalent, interesting driftwood was plentiful...the ocean view, the breeze, the sun, the waves; it was all perfect today!
The trail is part of the Smith River Alliance and was a pleasure to hike. It drops down to the river and then climbs back out. The bottom 1/3 needs some volunteers with a chainsaw and some loppers badly... There was quite a few trees down to go over or through. I think it was the slowest hike I've ever done. The payoff on the end is peaceful and beautiful. There was also some poison oak along the way.
Can’t ever go wrong hiking the beach sand dollars everywhere
Great little hike through the woods in Elk country and back on the beach. It can be done as a loop on the beach or an out and back. There is a large resident Elk herd in this area. Today they were no where to be seen but plenty of fresh tracks. The trail is signed for no dogs and the beach for dogs on leash but many have dogs off leash on this beach. At the end of the trail to go down to the the beach is a little steep but there are a couple of ropes to help you on your way. My thanks to the thoughtful people that put them there...
Great beach to walk... The beach is flat and firm and being a crescent shape it is far more protected than other beaches on the North Coast. The best in Norcal!
Great beach hike. The sand is nice and smooth and makes for a wonderful hike. You can go all the way down to the rocks and back.
To make this a really fun hike continue to end of beach around low tide and rock scramble the cliffs!
Closed indefinitely due to slide. Might be better named Enderts Beach trail. The highway goes along Crescent Beach. The hike down the hill is Endert's Beach.
Put 3 very good trails together today preparing for a backpacking trip on the Rogue in less than 2 weeks. All 3 are gorgeous and I've done 2/3 of this one many times. My guess is the mileage for this trail is 14+ and the elevation gain is about half of what is shown due to my hand drawing the trail from a map. I rated it hard only due to the length. My lab enjoyed the trail and was ready for more. I stopped and swam her a couple of times today while this old man took a break. She is a service dog. The trail is signed for no dogs but I've seen many including a couple today on the river.
Nice little stroll with great views. If you're there the right time of the year the sand dollars are everywhere.
Option for backcountry camping at Enderts Beach nearby. If parking overnight, make sure to talk to the Park Rangers because there have been issues with cars getting broken into overnight. They'll let you park at one of their outposts. Great views. Wonderful sunsets.
Awesome sandy trail leading to the dunes. One of my favorites!
