Hiking

Pretty average trail to me. Wide and clear path all the way down. Pretty steep. Nice swimming spot at the end a decent view, but I personally think there are much better hikes in much more rewarding locations. Also I figured this out by looking at the map before hand, but the pictures that have been uploaded of the Foresthill Bridge view from the bottom are from a different trail. You will not be able to see it using this one. This trail brings you to a small "beach" area with two floating boat dock bathrooms.

The second half is not a trail. It leads along a road in a private development. Would not recommend.

Nice trail. All decline on way down . So all incline on way back . But good little way to start your day.

Walking

Great cardio workout, around a 1 mile steep incline. I didn’t give it a 5 bc there aren’t many things to look at. A few spots overlook hwy 49, which is loud. If you pass the trail toward the footbridge it adds a tiny bit of mileage but will give you the best views of the day.

Fun trail, fairly flat....couple underwater spots but easy enough to skirt past or simply go around.

Not too bad of a hike, especially with the river running along with the trail.

HikingFeeGreat!

A beautiful hike along the American river to the lake Clementine Spillway. Nice views of Foresthill Bridge(NorCal’s tallest bridge) on the way. Recommend to Start hike early as it gets super crowded later in the day,

Hike was good, nothing too difficult. Some parts did get narrow, tougher with bikes and other people walking the other way. Start earlier than later is my recommendation. $10 bucks for parking and remember to take your valuables!

First, pay attention to the given map. I went up the wrong trail for a good half mile until I realized I was on another trail. Second, tons of poison ivy. Third, the streams are full of bugs. BRING BUG SPRAY. Lastly, do NOT go in hot weather. The whole way back to the trailhead is uphill. I made the mistake of coming in 100 degree weather. NEVER AGAIN.

HikingGreat!

great trail, the mapped trail listed here is a great workout especially on the way back up. this trail will take you to a small beach area of the lake if you want to see the falls you have to drive past the first parking area (about a 12 min drive) you do have to pay for parking $10 but the falls are right there. otherwise there are some spots to park along the road.

It was nicely shaded and parts of the trail were a pretty decent incline. We hit the trail counter-clockwise so we managed to get the incline over at Maine Bar Trail which made the hike worth it.

Nike uphill hike with a route that takes you to the lake. A small ledge gets you closer to the foot of the damn. Pretty heavy traffic on a Saturday morning so be patient.

Nice rolling terrain. Would be interesting to see and compare it during different seasons. Right now ground is dry and oak trees are leafed out. Imagine green grasses in winter and naked oaks! Lots of sun. In Sept. Go early.

Lots of people and I arrived at sunrise. Plus, the trails and views are mediocre, especially for this area. Glad to have completed this trail, but couldn’t wait for it to finish.
