Nice hike in winter, very green hills and great views of surrounding valleys.

I have been through here on our adventure motorcycles. There is a neat ranch in the Parkfield area, be sure to make it your food stop as its a cool place to check out.

It’s not for walking or 4 wheel driving. We use it as a get away and relaxing views. We start behind Coalinga and drive up to Parkfield at a slow relaxing pace. You see deer, pigs, the occasional road runner among other domestic farm animals and birds. The rocks and mountain sides of the road change color from corner to corner and you might find some serpentine along the way. The views from the top are awesome and you feel like your along ways from civilisation because there are no crowds. You do go through private land so tread lightly off the side of the road. Best about the trip is the restaurant in Parkfield where you can dine on some of the best burgers around. You can cross the San Andreas fault line and actually see the curve in the bridge. Overall a nice day trip to relax.

Not a 4x4 trail. Paved and graded.

Not a 4x4 trail. Most of the route is paved and the dirt portion is well maintained and graded. The views are are pretty nice and make a nice relaxing Drive.

The Parkfield Grade is simply a paved windy road one way up and a dirt road down. Great views of the San Joaquin valley on a clear day and highlight is the San Andreas fault line. Completion of "trail" ends up on highway 46 just before the James Dean memorial park
