This hike will easily separate the mountain goats from the average hiker. Expect to finish in 4-5 hours if you are average. I smoked this bad boy in sub 3 hours including all my small breaks. Not the prettiest hike in the world but it’s a great workout if you get after it! Make sure you have decent grip on your shoes... I went clockwise and really glad I did. It will start off steep and have lots of loose rocks. Some parts were pretty tricky to get down (for me at least) because it was so steep and my shoes didn’t have the best traction. Once you make it up to the top it’s a pretty smooth and easy way back if you go clockwise. Holla at ya boy if you get sub 3 hours on this one!

Despite many warnings and being advised not too, I hiked this trail for my first time hiking ever. I do not recommend it as it is extremely difficult and in some spots maybe alittle dangerous but I made it, it was well worth loosing the ability to move the next few days and I completed it in about 8 hours!

So happy to see all pushing for this loop! Such a beautiful time on the trail.

nice trail...I want to go back again...

Didn't plan on this trail but we ended up here. So glad we did! Hard incline at first, but worth it when we got to the lighthouse at the top. So beautiful. Air was fresh, weather was cool. They scenery absolutely gorgeous.

It is longer than 12. Great hike overall. For the big ballers. Soreness is a virtue

Since I live nearby, I hike this trail often. Of course, during the summer months, hiking the trail early is a must. Bring lots of water and a hat . I enjoyed the hike during the winter and spring season when the waterfall is there and the mountain is beautifully green. I would always recommend this hike.

Nice and challenging hike, with great views. The heat was brutal even though I left early and hiked up in the shade.

Beautiful hike for the ready and capable. Not a hike for everyone as seen by the hard eating. A nice thing to know is there are water faucets at the top to refill backpacks or bottles.

Very nice and quiet hike with hardly any traffic. Took about 3 hours at a reasonable pace with a few stops. Great views! Some areas have moderate+ gradient, especially around the Falls Trail loop. Better to go clockwise around this loop. The creek and waterfalls were all dry. Be prepared with hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water since it was a hot 90 degrees by mid-afternoon.

It was a good challenging with a rewarding view at the summit. Some of the roads are rocky, narrow and easy to lose your footstep. Definitely recommend start out clockwise loop because at the end it will all be flat and easy fire roads for your tired legs. We took our time and enjoyed the scenery of rolling hills and mountains. My phone said 14.6 miles total because we climbed up to the summit. There was ice creams (cone and sandwich) at the visitor center for your cold sweet fix. Overall, this is a very nice trail! Prepare to spend quite a bit of time conquering it. No less than 4 hours unless you’re extremely competitive ;)!

Great workout! I was grateful for the recommendation to go clockwise to start with the single track uphill- would have been very difficult down that way. Beautiful views! Didn’t see another person until the visitor center

Great hike with amazing views of the bay, Diablo and beyond. Uphill and downhill struggle pretty much the whole way! It took us 7.5 hours to do (moving time). This is much longer hiking time for us as the downhill is steep fairly frequently with poor grip. If you can stand the burn and blisters it’s definitely worth it!

it was a nice family hike. challenging in a few areas. we never found the water fall :(
but it was a beautiful view

The hike was awesome!!!
I hike with my dad,and we had fun with great views.
And if you want to go drive to mountain, you need to pay 10 dollar, but hike was that much worth.

Very hot day, hike with my 11year old son. The trail was easy walk with great view. Path was very stable, just fun!

This was a great hike... just strenuous enough but not a total killer for one of medium ability... thanks to previous reviewers... it did take 4 hours when you factor in occasional breaks and lunch and a stop to explore visitor center. Thanks also to this app for helping me navigate... made a few wrong turns but was able to quickly correct thanks to gps. The sometimes mediocre signage is why I am only giving 4 stars. Could be greatly improved upon. Bring plenty of water and plan for a work out. I imagine the view can be spectacular but alas it was too smokey when I did the hike to see all that was there.

I actually don't know about this hike. I attempted to do it and decided to use the feature in the app of getting directions to the trailhead. Because I have never been to My Diablo I trusted I would end up at the trailhead. The app took me to the east side of the My Diablo to some almost unseen openings in the fence to access fire roads, etc. Just want to inform anyone that they may not end up at the trailhead. I would like to try and do the actual hike someday.

Always great views and amazing talks

Don't be like us - check the weather beforehand so you don't end up hiking here when it's 100° outside

It’s a very nice trail, but extremely tough if you don’t hike more that 5 miles. On my GPS it actually ended up being 14 miles because we did climb to the summit. If you are and experienced hiker go for it, for people like that I’m not in terrible shape but also don’t run marathons it was really tough!

This was a death march

Not the most scenic hike I have done. I hiked during an extreme drought, I was disappointed to find out that the waterfall were completely dried out. The last part of the trail is extremely steep, a hiking stick can really come in handy.

Nice hike with many butterflies, birds. Went left at Deer Flat down Meridian Ridge to Bald ridge to North Peak to Summit. Looped down Juniper trail and back to Mitchell Canyon. very enjoyable day.

Great hike. Highest place I’ve gotten to in my backyard

A long hike with lots of uphill but nothing technical about the hike. We did the counter-clockwise version which was probably a mistake because the downhill is pretty tricky. Probably best to come down along the fire road. Nice views from the top. Best to go in the Spring or Fall, as Summer can be too hot.

So thankful for all of the shade! Definitely saved me on a hot morning. The uphill climbing was a littleeee rough but the views at summit made it all worth it!

Just did the loop without the tail. Great winter hiking area mostly to yourself.

Trail was a great length for the evening. Elevation change was just right for a workout and the views and sunset were perfect. Would definitely do this one again.
