Hiked this trail for the first time this morning and it was great. Parking was a little thin by 8:30am on a Sunday but not completely full. Beautiful scenery and plenty of birdwatching to be done throughout this hike, especially near the trailhead. The trail was in good shape most of the way. It became a little more sketchy after the turn toward the summit (away from Claremont Wilderness Park). The sun kept us plenty warm, even in mid-November! Enjoy!

nice hike with portable restroom in parking lot

Super easy. Mostly a fireroad hike.

Easy. Nice. But easy to get lost too. We somehow turned it into a 15 miler....in the dark.

This hike is pretty easy compared to its rating. I did it at night, while recovering from a cold. Going uphill sick wasn’t a joy, but the views are worth it! Most of the trail is well maintained with little rock issues. Once you get to the last half a mile it becomes lose, but still walkable. If you are looking to work on your cardio or sweat out a cold, this is a good hike. I didn’t see “shortcuts,” but from the map, they look similar to the path. The part that would make this rated hard would be the uphill motion, but it’s not difficult. It just pumps your heart. This is good practice for anyone looking to strengthen their heart.

Beautiful hike.

Love this trail! It’s so beautiful, lots of scenery. My 5 year old son hiked it and he loved every second!

Trail closed until further notice

Would not categorize this as a hike, but a great morning stroll! Busy and easy. Park by the church, it's free.

I absolutely love this trail!!!

This trail is so worth it if you are in a time crunch. It's a great glute work out for in the beginning there is an incline of stairs. Once you hit the mid point there is a nice bench overlooking the valley. Keep to the right once you hit the fork and it will lead you down to the horse stables. You will then either make a left towards Mills or a right towards Higginbotham park. If this is your first time give yourself at least an hour and a half. If you have a consistent steady pace and consider yourself in healthy hiking shape then you can easily finish it in 45 minutes. Welp, I'll leave you to it. much love and much peace

Oct. 2018: Great trail. if you are a beginner beware and give yourself at least 2 hrs. There is a fee of $5-7 Dollars. If you are not out of the parking lot by 6 p.m you will get a parking ticket. If you get locked in the parking lot be prepared to pay a fine. I remember when it was a free trail and you didn't have to worry much about fees, tickets or fines. But it's a great trail. Recently went on a hike and came across a few turantulas, squirrels and baby deer. They are harmless if you keep to yourself and treck on. You will also frequent a lot of older people who ride up and down the mountain like no one's business. They may either make you feel like wuses or inspire you to treck harder...none the less they are always nice and they always say hello. In the end, it's worth it once you complete it. Welp, I'll leave you to it! peace

This is a nice short urban trail. I started near yellow gates, that read "Not An Entrance".
- Easy Parking
- Well lined trail
- Limited # of people
- Nice views
- Good workout regardless of fitness level.
- Dirty
- Heat
- Dusty
- Short length
I highly recommend this trail for anyone. Bring enough water, hat, cooling towel, and a potato. Do not leave your potato :).
It can be steep in certain parts if you're not used to trails. Also, do not go during peak heat times if you are not accustomed to the temperature.

This is a challenging 4.2 mile hike, so start early and bring water. I expanded my time on the trail with photography and curiosity... and by continuing just north you can link up with the Claremont Hills Wilderness Trail to the east. The trail is well maintained, but some junctions were confusing, so the All Trails app was very helpful.

best part about this trail is the free parking! Clairmont P.D let me know to put away any valuables in my trunk to help avoid any thefts. so far so good.

Great hike, brought the pup along, its mostly unshaded though and at points, it was a bit too hot for her. We started around 11 am though and I would say this hike is best suited for early morning or late afternoon with 3/4 hours planned for walking/enjoying the scenery. Someone was kind enough to leave an arrow up to the narrow rocky trail leading up to peak! It's a fairly easy hike, up to the peak is the only real incline/climbing part and it's not too much. Enjoy and BRING EXTRA WATER it gets HOT out there even in Sept! :D

love this trail

It’s a good trail! You have to pay for parking and starting OCTOBER 1,2018 the price of parking will go up to $5 and on Saturday and Sunday will be $7 in the morning! Soooo I most likely won’t be here. That’s a bit ridiculous. Other than that it $3 and $5 on weekends! It’s not many rocks which I like and tells you how far you have gone! Enjoy

Parking lot and trail close at 7 in September
