Hard hike for old dude. Great views and wildflowers!

fantastic view perfect for a relaxing afternoon walk.

One of my favorite hike for a quick cardio workout. With breathtaking views, incredible sounds of wild life, beautiful redwoods, relaxing sounds of the flowing creeks and small waterfalls...makes this place pretty majestic. Highly recommended.

We went on this brutal and stunning 7 mile hike on Sunday at Garrapata State Park in Carmel, CA. The landscape changed from gorgeous, shady redwoods (absolutely go beyond the signs) to climb up to the Sound of Music-esque rolling hills covered in wildflowers with frustrating false peaks, to the actual peak where the winds almost blew us over, covering us in clouds while we lay cradled in a rock throne. The descent was grey skies, highlighting the colors of the prolific flowers, bringing us over the rain-eroded trail, rough on the knees and ankles, but we made it. Grateful to have been very prepared with clothing layers, good boots, and hiking poles, or else I’d still be up there. Very much worth it for this beautiful hike!

Amazing

Great loop hike start on Soberanes Canyon trial and loop around, come back down rocky ridge trail. From crossing streams, seeing plenty of wild flowers, even cactus along the way, challenging up to the peak and a nice ocean view on the way down. The sign says it’s closed after 1.5mi, but just keep going and follow the single track and you won’t regret it. Great hike overall.

Beautiful wildflowers and awesome redwoods. Uphill quite challenging after woodland path. Definitely wear long pants and hiking shoes as downhill can be slippery.

A wonderful workout with amazing coastal views. Then walk on ridge of canyon before meandering along creek and amidst redwoods. Extra bonus are the wildflowers if you time it right

Absolutely lovely trail! You’ll see cacti, redwoods, a creek, wildflowers, undulating hills, and the ocean. The first 1.5 miles is easy with a couple moderate elevations and creek crossings. After that are a few cardio stressing false peaks that bring you to a gorgeous view of the canyon and Pacific. The hardest part is getting back down since the Rocky Ridge part of the loop is closed. I parked at 8:30 and passed only one other person on the trail. By the time I was returning at 1015, there were people coming in by the tens. It’s also already hot; getting there early before the people and heat is best.

I can’t wait to do this hike again once it’s fully open.

Beautiful trail with plenary of wildflowers and spectacular views. Downhill to the end was kind of hard on the knees but all good. I will rate this hike hard due to the elevation changes. Lots of up then lots of steep downhill. But that’s how u get the views!

amazing views, and a decent hike of you use all of the trails. I spent a good 4 or 5 hours here. spending time crawling around and climbing trees.

Now is the time of year to go. Nice short walk though the redwoods and then beautiful views of the ocean and spectacular wild flowers blooming. Trail is strenuous, and the loop is somewhat overgrown and washed out, but I didn’t have a problem! Poles help. Definitely wear pants and fitted long sleeve shirt for the ticks. Beautiful!

One of my favorite hikes with a taste of the creek, redwoods and coastal panoramic views...each time is different with the wild flowers in bloom a unique experience.

Wonderful beach walk...

Most excellent!

Don't know why I waited so long to do this hike. Bring a camera, you won't be disappointed.
I parked on the 1 on walked in. Took the trail near the entrance as suggested. Followed the loop as given. wow. stunning on such a clear beautiful day. Don't think I have ever taken so many pictures on a long hike before.

the trail along the Creek/river has been cleared and is ready, looking great... I think it is still closed officially. Met some hikers and trail runners nevertheless..one of my favorites.
On a good day (no coastal fog)the views at the top are fantastic.

The trail will re-open this month according to the Friends of Garrapata Facebook page!!! It's been closed since July 2016. I cannot wait to hike up there again!

nice trail. something for everybody- all ages and all levels

There is no single "Loop Trail" at Point Lobos. There are lots of trails with loops and the "Perimeter " can be hiked as a loop. This can cause a lot of confusion as the Reserve does not recognise the "Loop Trail".

Amazing place

Whale watching nearby, saw baby gray whales swimming with mamas! Short hike to beach. Nice quick stop

This loop is not open, even more, it does not even exist yet. Looks like they have a future plan to finish this trail, but currently there is no loop trail open up on the hill. It is a great hike and beautiful views on the ridge, but then you must turn around and head down the same way. Someone needs to correct the map as it shows trails that do not exist yet. REMEMBER: PERMIT REQUIRED.
