Somewhat heavy on traffic and it can be difficult to find parking. But a good respite from the workday with a fresh ocean breeze.

A 3 mile loop along the Batiquitos Lagoon that is great for walking, jogging, families, and dog lovers. Easy to get to from I-5, exit Poinsettia, take a right on Batiquitos, then a right on Gabbiano until it dead ends at the trailhead. Ample parking along the road. Super easy to get to, even for a brisk walk in the am or a leisurely stroll in the evening. A great escape to nature when you don’t have a lot of time to drive to a hiking destination outside the city.

Not a bad loop for a family stroll or someone just getting into a weightless or exercise regimen. The trail is easy and well maintained. Someone could easily push a stroller, wheel chair or Walker around this loop. There are a few small hills but nothing too crazy. I was slightly disappointed that a small portion of the loop is a sidewalk through a residential neighborhood. I have included a link below for my video review if you care to see it. https://youtu.be/3wsa0ychukY

After deliberation on the different entry points to the trail, My hubbs, our 8.5-year old and I ended up completing 2 miles. We were a bit disappointed to hit sidewalks in the residential area. This was a neat little trail, but ill-advised when the temperature is above 78.

Nice trail, easy ups and downs except for the cresting.

nice ride on Santi. we went out backwards up to Indian Rock. Saatchi was a perfect gentleman. Even spooked once had a great time.

Killer view of the lake and the whole world from the top. Good workout, worth doing.

Dynamic pretty hike, but sadly the trail is too eroded.

Great hike, lots of ups and downs, some steep inclines. Want to get back out here and do the whole loop.

3entrances/places to park. Have been going for 25 years. Not even sure if it was a trail then but I walked all over those hills that beautiful houses are on now. The only time over the years that I felt a little uncomfortable was when there were a group of bird watchers and my dog was off leash. My bad. And once again when my dog was off leash he went onto the golf course the trail is next to. Everyone was friendly. I believe the off leash law is more enforced now so no more of that. Love it!

This walk never gets old!

A quick walk without traveling too far. Nothing scenic about it tho.

One of the prettier nearby hikes. Worth it for an easy family stroll. Not a big fan of seeing the 5 FWY through most of it. But I suppose there is something interesting about watching the hustle of the world go by while you stroll along the waters edge.

So many fun trails in this area, highly recommend!!

this is a good trail to let my kid walk on his own because it's wide path and a small trail. there's also a playground which is fun. this is definitely a hike for fun exercise or just to get out but not a get away from it all kinda hike because you're still next to a busy street and can see the mall and parking lot etc on the trail

so many trail options and great views but really watch out for the rattlesnakes. there are many posted signs but there's one area that is very densely populated so be vigilant!

Nice walk with a breeze. Great for a beginner like me to just get out and enjoy the beautiful views and get some exercise. Saw dogs and people of all ages too.

Came back to Hosp Grove East again to do more of the trail. Still enjoyed it. Nothing insane, but a fun way to hang with the fam!

Great workout! Multiple trails from challenging to easy. Have fun!

Walked the Hosp Grove East Trail. Very easy, kid-friendly walking trail. Nothing too exciting, but a great place to feel a little more connected to nature.

Nice late afternoon walk. Some shade.

This is a beautiful hike. It is dry but still there are wonderful wild flowers. Several of the smaller trails are closed, compared to this map, so I had to go on a longer route than I anticipated. Enjoy!
