Went on 7/7/2018. Easy to find, well maintained forest service road. I would rate as easy because the incline is so gradual. Wildflowers were nearing the end, but thousands of butterflies along the creek, probably because of the blooming milkweed. I believe they were Acmon Blues. Because of the westerly wind direction, no smoke from the Klamathon fire. Forest, meadows, creeks, waterfalls, pristine lake. What more could one ask for?

Beautiful! Trail well maintained, clean, and tons of wildflowers in bloom right now! We went on the 4th of July 2018. Great place for all ages!

Loved this hike. Beautiful!! Loved being close to the PCT too!

The trail is relatively well marked except for in the meadow areas, but since all you do is follow the canyon up to the lake it's hard to get lost. The incline is steady, but not steep until the last 1/4 mile. Once you arrive at the lowest lake there are not very many camp grounds, but there appears to be two upper lakes that you can visit.. There are beautiful views of the valley below and the lake is lovely, but it is difficult to get access to the water. There were many little trout (4-6") jumping and you could see dozens of them swimming around the edge, so maybe bring a fishing pole! Bonus points for there being constant water access along the trail for dogs.

Just as beautiful as the last time I visited. Very quick and easy hike.

Cool view of the lake. Quick and easy hike.

I would rate this more of a moderate hike, due to the steady incline and tricky spots on the trail. Gorgeous views and serene atmosphere. Lake is clear and beautiful. Definitely worth the effort.

Pretty views of the lake.

This was a nice short trail for my first time up in the year. It's short but at a steady incline right from the start. As you get closer to East Boulder lake, it get fairly steep but with the switchbacks, it's doable for all levels. at the top of the trail, you get a beautiful view of the valley and the amazing creek coming down from the lake. A couple of down falls are the lack of descent camp spots, dried cow pies everywhere (good for fire fuel though), and quite a bit of mosquitoes. there is a great 6-7 mile day hike around the ridge that hits the PCT. Absolutely beautiful. would definitely do it again.

Not Easy!!! Moderate hike with a good elevation gain. Nice for people who are afraid of heights.

Me and a friend took our 10 year old and 12 year old daughters on a three day two night backpacking trip to Fox Creek Lake. This was there first experience with backpacking and this was a good introduction. Just the right distance into the basecamp at Fox Creek Lake and a great campsite right by a stream with just the right amount of shade and fantastic options for hanging hammocks. We decided to scramble up to Section Lake for lunch and a swim, and then on up to the top of the crest above the lake with a good view of the Scott Valley. Decent fishing at Fox Creek Lake, caught 4 trout and the water was perfect for swimming. Later in the afternoon we saw a Bald Eagle and a Golden Eagle. It was a fantastic hike for a couple of kids' first backpacking trip!

I grew up near here and have been to Kangaroo lake countless times. The drive up is a small very windy road. Once at the top near the lake, you pass Lilly Pad pond. There is a a lot of parking and an easy trail, handicap accessible now to part of the lake. Camp sites, picnic tables and several outhouses. A pair of eagles have nested here for years, if your timing is right you can watch them dive into the lake to fish. Its amazing to watch.

It's been a long time, but I remember the outstanding view from the vantage point on top, easy access to more trails (PCT crosses through on ridge above) & I believe there was a meadow with pitcher plants.
