Great trail very quite and serene.

very nice trail, beautiful and peaceful. highly recommended place to spend time with family, hike or simply clear your mind from the crowd of the city without being far away from it.

Absolutely gorgeous! Great hike.

You can stay on the main path, or veer off for little challenges. Great spot

Went off the main paths and traversed some steep hills. Did not make it to the caverns but will definitely return.

Beautiful after some rains with lots of green grass and a few native wildflowers popping up. A little unvaried and exposed so probably best as a trail run or bike ride and left to the cooler parts of the day.

Wide trail, plenty of room for hikers and riders. Rolling hills with low grade climbs.

Love the creek and openness of trail, where there early enough to enjoy the trail in peace and quietness. Also parked outside the parking lot and save $$$

Beautiful hike that starts with a gentle descent. Heavy rainfall earlier in the week left plenty of water in creek and everything green. Trails are well-maintained and there is shade for most of trail. Had to cross two small streams. Fun and will do again!

Great hike out and back... good climb but mostly gradual so not to steep

This is a great park. $12 day parking but the hikes are worth it. Beautiful and the MASH site was awesome! Most of the terrain was pretty flat.

An easy lop than can be done at a leisurely pace.
Note: My hike added a short extension that makes this a 5 mile loop. But AllTrails won't allow me to include that portion with it's write option so I've added Waypoints so you can see where that section is. This extra section is rated moderate and should be avoided if you have a stroller etc.

Easy

Very nice! Not hard at all so is good for kids.

Did a loop coming down from Liberty Canyon, which is the nicer side, though there's a lot of development going on that side and that may chance.
A pleasant hike but as mentioned in other reviews traffic noise from Las Virgenes Road takes some of the edge off and the section running parallel with Las Virgenes isn't very interesting.

For my second hike it was easy enough for both me and my husky(on leash). We got to see the lake and made the full circle back to the entrance. That last hill to the main street gets you heart going right at the end. There was a good amount of people for the time we went (nice people) and some people on bikes. Be mindful of the horse droppings as they are all over the trials.

Beautiful and easy trails. But we were disappointed that we couldn’t get to Malibu Lake at the end.. you can’t even see the lake and you can’t access it. Bummer!
Along the whole trail there are many spots where you can smell the sewer. So much for a walk in nature with good smells..
the MASH site is pretty cool. Worth the effort.
We still enjoyed it after all and will do it again.

Nice hike. We passed through the Mash site. Pretty neat, good photo ops. There is also a camera holder so that you can take pictures. It's where the 2nd truck is at. Just keep going past the first truck you see. However, the end of the trail just ends abruptly with some fences. So that was odd. The Century lake is beatiful!

A quiet hike. Not many people. Annoying that there are no trail markers. Makes finding the connector trails for the loop hard to find.

The trail begins in a lush California forest filled with oak trees and a beautiful dry creek along the path. Finding the various mountain streams that lead to the creek was a fun diversion. As the trail continues through open spaces filled with various native brush, you realize that you are at the bottom of a canyon surrounded by green mountains.

Moderate, steady climb with good views of Calabasas and big sandstone rocks. We did it with 5 and 7 year olds and were fine. A little slippery in spots but good.

The kids and I love hiking here!

Wow, AllTrails updated the route based on my experience. Nice!

Walking clockwise the trail is impassable about a mile in. With some common sense and gps you can work out a detour that will add maybe two tenths of a mile to the loop.
Also the first few miles parallel the highway with the expected noise level
And, if that’s not enough, watch out for sting nettles near the detour.

This was an easy, short hike. The fall colors were in full bloom when I went, and the temperature was nice. Would definitely do again. Note: this is in the Malibu Creek State Park and there is a $12 entrance/vehicle fee to take this trail. Also, the trail starts off on Crags Road (or a name like that). Happy hiking!

nice trail. cool views valley to ocean.

Average hike.

The good parts:
-trail wasn’t busy, easy to find free parking
-trail is clearly defined, but it was useful to have a map bc it’s easy to make a wrong turn.
-decent view of mountains

Bad parts:
-the trail is within earshot of a heavily trafficed road, including sirens of ambulances, fire trucks, and loud motorcycles.
-nothing really unique to see

Less easy than expected. I don’t see some children doing the first part. Which is also very noisy with the freeway..
Won’t do it again even But the views are amazing.

Not moderate hike at all. Very easy and fun for the whole family!

The current map will first take you to Century Lake and then the mash site followed by the bed around the other side of the lake. If you climb up on the rocks you can get a good view of the lake, dam and landscape. Plus there's a small cave up at the top!

On the way back you'll follow the trail to the rock pools. Fun place to rock climb!
