Did this trail yesterday from the main parking lot at Malibu Creek State Park. At about 6.5 miles from the start & once we were on the backbone trail, my partner and I encountered two huge sections of digger bees on the trail/service road. These were encountered 0.5 miles before the stone mandala. It took up the width of the road and were approximately 40 feet long. While intimidating, they are docile and I recommend you walk slow and calmly if you choose to continue. Due to the marine layer on the mountains yesterday, we made a wrong turn and ended up on the road. If you do end up on the road, go to the right (decreasing mile markers) and then take the service road up to the bulldog road. While on the bulldog road we encountered 3 more sections of digger bees but these were smaller patches that didn’t take up the entirety of the road/trail but still exercise caution. After the bulldog trail meets up with another to go to the MASH site, it was a little overgrown. Wonderful trail though: Gets elevation out of way at beginning, beautiful views, fairly wide, and after elevation gain it levels out for the rest. Be sure to practice social distancing, be safe, be responsible, practice Leave No Trace principles, and have fun!

Severely overgrown. Pants/Long sleeve are a must. Trail becomes hard to distinguish at a few points.

not that bad.. M.A.S.H. site was pretty cool

Parking costs $3/hour and $12/day

CENTURY LAKE & ROCK POOL ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED! AS OF 5/19/20. Parking fees ($12.00 all day, $3.00 per hour) are still being charged (despite aforementioned closures). The upper parking lot is closed too. I do appreciate that all of this is delineated on their website (I should have looked before coming) but I do think they should charge reduced parking rates during this time. My understanding is that Century Lake is the highlight of this trail. The ranger made it seem like although the trail was open, it wasn't really worth it without seeing the lake. And if I'm paying the parking fees, that seems like a waste. CURRENT INFO: https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=614

We had a great hike today. Although this trail is mostly fire road, the spring flowers and view made it a nice escape. Most people wore masks. It was exposed and hot. We took a wrong turn and wound up on the street for a few miles. Doh!

Pretty overgrown right now especially the last quarter mile as you get to the top. You are not able to link this up with the hidden stairs hike from the top and make this a loop because the neighborhood is gated and the access to the hidden stairs is locked with video cameras. Views are just ok on this one. Plenty of better hiking in Calabassas.

Great hike. $12 to park, very little shade, have to cross a couple creeks if you do the whole 6.6 mi. Mostly flat and easy but cannot access the lake at the end- fenced off. Still highly recommend!

It’s the first trail that is paved - the other one idk where it leads to. But it’s pretty chill not too long. Narrow trail. A LOT OF BEES!!! But they weren’t bugging at all. Lots of greenery. Wear pants. The stairs are perfect for that extra push It’s a nice view once you get to the top. The trail isn’t difficult at all and it’s not too long.

Extremely over grown. Could barely follow the trail. Needs to be maintained. There are quite a few steep points. Hiking shoes an absolute must!
