As a visitor from Texas I would rate this higher than moderate but I’m not used to hiking mountains either. The other hikers are super friendly and my dog loved it as much as me. Great place to hike!

We hike from the nature center up to the last tower at the summit and then turn back down, so we do an out-and-back approach. Mostly because we couldn’t figure out the loop - haha. But it’s a solid nine miles with significant elevation gain and great views.

great easy hike along with spectacular views.

Trailhead easy to find, started at the Nature Center which has free parking, I was lucky to find a spot. The trail is almost strictly on a fire road and gravel the whole way. I passed hikers, mountain bikers & trail runners about every 15 min or so during the half up to the towers, didn’t see many people beyond that point. The hike has a fairly steep incline at the onset but then tapers out and continues a steady incline for the first 3 miles. Once you pass the towers, it evens out for a decline on the way back. The map on AllTrails gives you an option to take a few single track trails which follow the main trail, but these single tracks are steep and I slid down one of them due to the loose gravel and got pretty scratched up so I’d recommend staying on the main fire road. This trail is a good workout with great views. This area suffered in the fires but the trail is maintained. Very little to no coverage so bring a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water. Clocked in 8 miles total (little over 3 hours) following the AllTrails map past the towers.

I love it! All the hikers are very friendly. Great workout. Light traffic

Great path for my new beach cruiser

Pretty nice and exciting trail . It gets hard and mostly moderate . Not so long way. Quite pretty and green. Didn’t see no river or lake or waterfall . Traffic was light on Sunday

I’ve been getting into trail running lately and this one is fantastic for it. It’s basically all up hill but that makes your way back easier. It’s pretty challenging due to the elevation, but would highly recommend this hike for trail running or hiking. Wear protection from the sun due to it being out in the open.

Nice long hike with beautiful views.

Beautiful views of the valley and DTLA. We hiked this in late April and there were lots of pretty wildflowers. It’s pretty steep at the beginning and throughout the trail. Great cardio workout!

Hiked this on a cool, sunny March day. It's a great workout. Views are beautiful, trail is clean and well marked. Little to no shade. When you're down in the canyon, it is blissfully quiet.

It was hard but very cool!!!!

Slow climb to the towers on wide dirt fire road. Trafficked by runners, walkers, and MTB (less so past the “saddle”). Great views of the Valley, Griffith Park, and La Crescenta.

Went there again last Friday in the late afternoon. Very nice hike. The mountain bikers were very courteous too.

It’s a solid hike up to the park (communications station). We like it because there is not much traffic at all, lots of quiet and solitude with great views of the valley to DTLA when you reach the summit

Great hike although I only made it to the first summit and turned back. Challenging but has awesome views. It was very clear and I could see the ocean and Catalina Island from the peak. Took my dachshund with. He made it to the top with a lot of breaks but I had to carry him down. Bring lots of water since there is almost no shade. Even in January it is still plenty hot all the way up. Sad to see the mountain so destroyed by the fires.

The views are really nice. Very few trees, so probably wouldn’t hike this in the summer, although you can find decent patches of shade against the hillsides depending on what time of day you go. Around the 3.5 mile mark, the listed trail wants you to take a steep incline up a hillside to a lookout point. Don’t take this route, it’s really washed out and sketchy. Stay on the motorway for a much safer walk. You can double back to the peak from the other direction on your return.

A fairly peaceful hike. Quite a few mountain bikers but they were polite. The start and finish are a little steep but not bad. A nice way to get elevation.

It can be an easy walk, bike ride or take the long hard trails. I loved everything about this place and will be going back soon.

Beautiful hike!! Fairly challenging up hill start with lots of stunning views. I took the back side of the mountain on the way down. Easier grade on the knees with tons more amazing views

The first incline of this hike is steep enough for s good workout, so I’ll definitely come back for that alone. Large parking lot at trailhead. If you take the hike all the way down to the next canyon there is a museum and actual bathrooms, which was nice.

Love the Stough Canyon Trail when I'm looking for a quick hike after work. The trail starts at the nature center, which has a parking lot and full bathrooms (open the same hours as the nature center). This trail is lightly trafficked, even less so as you get closer to the top. Unfortunately, the fire burned a large majority of this area, but there is no issue with the trail itself.

I'd rate this hike on the easier side of moderate although the first section heading up from the parking lot is a steady incline. There are a few points in the trail with different options depending on where you want to go (overlook, old youth camp), but the signs are clear. Additionally, there are benches and lounge chairs at various points if you want to take a break and enjoy the views! The trail is full sun exposure - bring lots of water. Also, keep an eye out for the mountain bikers who come flying down certain parts of the trail; not all are very good about watching for hikers.

Starts high. How high? Reallll high winkiefacemoji

This was another good trail for a great workout. If you want a great workout don't stop midway or take any loops back to your car, continue to go up and reach the pole at the top. Now that is a great workout. Remember, take water, you'll need it. It's challenging and great cardio workout while in nature. It's no stroll around the park, you'll definitely feel it.
