Did this hike in mid May. Wildflowers in full bloom, the initial descent along the single track coyote trail is very shady, watch out for poison oak crowding the trail. The trail soon turns into a shady stroll along the upper reaches of Marsh Creek, just enough water to occasionally hear it speaking to you. As you turn onto the Stone Corral portion of the trail the landscape changes dramatically to wide open grass covered hills to start the ascent back to the ridge. Best to do this stretch in the morning as there is little shade as you make a gentle climb with a couple steeper sections. It levels off when you hit the Volvon trail with some nice vistas of the Central Valley and Mt. Diablo. A lovely peaceful hike.

Nice hike with lots of intermittent shade for a reprieve from the sun. Lots of gradual up and down as opposed to straight up. Pretty views. Great hike for a beginner like me.

great for some easy mountain biking

This is not a bad trail, a bit boring. A few homeless here and there. IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL you will merge into Delta De Anza. This might not be as big an issue if starting from the Brentwood side, but I was riding from the Buchanan side..From this direction ride south a bit on Lone Tree at the hospital until you see the brown fence

Coolest and quietest place...just perfect

Beautiful views, definitely good to bring lots of water and trekking poles for the hike back up the mountain. Another good thing to know is that this trail is highly trafficked. Be prepared for people running at you when there is nowhere to go

numerous changing of path ups n downs

It's a beautiful hiking trail. With beautiful views..

Not for Mt Biking as the park has posted signs on parts of this trail. We were following the all trails map and found this out when going in a counter clockwise direction. Easy at first with wide trails then single track with lots of obstacles and poison oak, and climbing several hundred feet in the last mile over tough terrain.

Nice rolling hills

It was a perfect place for my husband and I to take our dog and 10 month old for a walk

I love this trail. It's challenging enough but overall not too bad. I've hiked it alone and with friends and my kids. Great views of the surrounding preserve from the midway point at the top. If you do the trail reverse starting on Hardy Canyon it definitely makes it more challenging. Muddy after rain but you can still do it. Enjoy!

This is a great pedestrian path - great views of Mt. Diablo and the neighborhoods of Brentwood and Oakley. Plenty of runners, walkers and cyclists on the weekend. Great place to spot bird, turtle and fish wildlife along the creek, especially as you get closer to Oakley. Lots of parks and playgrounds along the way for kids and families.

Hiked this trail yesterday afternoon. Was very nice, only crossed path with one other person the entire hike. Will come back again.

Did this one a few times...

Great hike to let the dog run, best in the cooler seasons. Easiest if done clockwise. If done CCW, it will be a moderate to difficult climb out of the creek at the end.

Great hike for cooler weather. Avoid going on hot summer days. Little shade and will be hot.

Love this trail. For the first 4 miles of the trail, it is well taken care of and has benches you can take a break on. The rest is a bit more rough but still a nice bike ride. I ride my road bike and well as my mountain bike on this trail. One issue for me is that I have to travel to it from my home in Antioch.

Not too crowded on Sunday. Very dry in October, half shade. Miwok trail is wide and pretty flat, the Hardy Canyon Trail is narrower and gets you up to the peak of the hill with good views, and around back to the beginning for a loop. Free. About 3 hours with young kids.

Beautiful scenery! I went around clockwise up the Hardy Canyon Trail and back down via the Miwok Trail and that is how I would do it again if I ever went back. I'm from SoCal but I was in Brentwood on business and decided to go on a hike before getting in the car and driving 6 hours home. The Miwok Loop was perfect.

I did this trail as a side trek while doing the Murphy Meadow Trail in the same EBRP. It was a nice trail, fun to walk. There are several errors however in this app that I feel should be clarified for other hikers. First the map I see to the right says 0.4 miles from the trail head. That is WAY off. Today, using my GPS hike tracker The trail head to the point where the Miwok Trail splits with the Murphy Meadow trail is actually closer to 1.25 miles. You take the Murphy Meadow trail about .25 miles to where the Foxtail Trail splits from it. By the way...it is not the "Fox Trail" it is called the "Foxtail Trail".

I had an absolutely great time this morning hiking this trail. Enough elevation change to make it challenging yet not over whelming. Great views and a nice variety of terrain from oak woodland to grassy hills. Wonderful hike.

Enjoyed this trail today. A good sized hill, doable but still a little challenging.

Very wet still -- some trails damaged but passable. Small waterfalls in the creeks are lovely.

This trail is very muddy. There are a few spots that you will definitely have to step in water to get across. The green hills are very pretty to look at. Overall it was good family hike. I would not recommend it for kids under age 10 due to the mud & water.

It's a nice trail to spend some time on. I got over 9 miles on the trails at Round Valley.

Cool trail! Awesome stream that runs along side for 1/3 the loop. Trail was a bit rough at times due to the recent heavy rain so be careful. Perfect 2-hour walk to start the morning ;)
