Nice off-road drive, four wheel drive needed. Rocky and sandy in some areas. There’s vaulted toilets and two picnic tables with shade in parking area. The pumpkin patch is very interesting with bizarre rock formations. Although getting there is half the fun.

One of my favorite trails. EVER. If you've never hiked a slot, this is an excellent beginner spot!

Beautiful area that’s so full of life. The trail is hot and there are signs all over reminding people to bring lots of water, and they mean it. Even in October, the temp got well over 100 and there’s no shade most of the way. However, the oasis at the end is a fantastic place to relax and recover. The trail isn’t too taxing but weather definitely makes it tougher. It worth the hike just to see the incredible growth and giant native palms at the end.

Hiked up Villager Peak Sunday. Camped at the trail head the night before to get an early start -- well, 7am. I packed 9 liters of water with electrolytes. Had planned to spend the night at Rabbit Peak, but probably needed 4 liters more of water to make it there and back (now I know), so it turned into a day hike. Someone stashed about 5 liters of water at the improvised campground 4.8k feet up, but I left it there. The temperature was pleasant, unlike in my abandoned hike early July. This was also a survey hike to see what it would take to do Cactus-to-Clouds on Mt San Jacinto. This was a work out hike. The views of Anza-Borrego were nice, though. No other hikers were on the trail. Met one hiker on Saturday at the trail head who had followed to cairns into the canyon, which is the wrong way. Some flies and other bugs along the trail.

Best sunset in the desert by far

No waterfall of course because of the summer months. I was kind of bored with this one. Might try again in the winter when the fall is running and it's cooler weather.

the pumpkin patch itself was okay.. cool to see the rock formation. The trail getting to it was the best part..

A little tough at the end, but a gorgeous trail

You can drive right up to this point. We did it in a Jeep no problem! (You have to drive in very light sand) it’s totally fine with a four wheel drive vehicle. The view is SOOOO worth it. Go see the sun rise or set there! Both are spectacular.

The AllTrail map has if starting further down the road, but you can park right beyond the base where the elevation gain starts and hike up from there. That is where the trail head is.

this is a great trail. lots of fun offshoots on the way to the patch at the end. fairly easy to medium difficulty. trail can be done in 2wd but beware of soft sand and silt at the beginning portion of the trail. follow the markers otherwise you can get lost and turned around due to multiple interweaving trails that veer off.

Fun off road trail with places to stop and look/climb/hike around. The trail has a couple fun obstacles that are a little trickier without a lift. With a little experience and maybe a spotter this trail can definitely be done in a stock Jeep. Just made it to the top in my stock JK Rubicon. Still hot in September (102º)!

‘Slot’ area not as long as we expected. Some of the hike is pretty skinny to get through. Neat rock formations. Glad we did it while in the area for a golf outing. Hiked it at the end of Jan 2019, so weather was comfortable. Easy hike

Great trail! Did this during the wildflower bloom and creeks were shallow but fast. No shade. Wish I took more water. Lots of friendly people. Took the alternate way back. Take a towel or bandana if you like to take off shoes to wade through water. Didn’t see any sheep but days before lots of people did.

Bring lots of water. This is an awesome ridge hike from the desert floor gaining basically 5000 feet. Lots of false peaks on the way. Don’t let your guard down until you hit the actual peak.

Simple trail easy to follow as it is well established. Easily walked it with my 3 year old. Nice over look views of Borrego Springs below.
