Absolutely gorgeous lake. Only saw the ranger up by the lake on a Tuesday morning. the crossing in the beginning is a bit dangerous, but the trail is nice. Steep initially until you pass the castle rock then it is completely flat. MUST DO, lake is so beautiful.

Great trail

Was a great little hike. Remarkable beautiful views. Love this place.

Nice but more of a road than a trail for the majority of the distance. Not terribly well marked and easy to get off on an alternate route. The last 1/4 to 1/2 mike is very steep.

Nice short hike with shades. Definitely do it again.

Definitely a “moderate”, not an “easy”. Dirt road to access was fine in our regular car as we took it slow, a lot of potholes but they weren’t too deep. Parked on a small pull out just before PCT. Really nice trail but a lot of steep climbing on a dirt road (especially near the top). The PCT options made it much nicer lower down. 4miles rt.

We had a great time under the shade of the beautiful trees. Lots of opportunity to sit and enjoy the views of what’s left of the sadly drying up Big Bear Lake- come see it before it’s a thing of our past. Lots of locals and tourists but not too much traffic for a weekday summer hike. Easy parking. The public restroom was pretty gross! This is a super easy hike. A 5 year old could handle it!

Awesome place to hike with a toddler and a hiking backpack

Great hike for the whole family. We took our 10, 6, and 3 year olds. The 3 year old was super tired and wanted to be carried part of the way, but it was an easy hike for us and it was a great first hike for the kids. Great views.

I love taking my dog for a walk on this path. easy 5 mile walk with nice lakeside views.

Woodland trail is a nice easy little hike. went there about 3 weeks ago and saw a rattlesnake taking in some sun. if you decide to go, keep your eyes open as it's getting a lot warmer and they're starting to come out.

Took our five kids on the trail. It was easy for all ages (youngest is 3). We all loved the nature facts at each station! Lots of great views, too!

A perfect trail if you’re looking for a quick nature stroll! Thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and there were some pretty views over the lake. Family friendly and should be doable for most everyone. There were a few uphills, but nothing too bad. The parking lot has a decent amount of spots, but does require an adventure pass.

The trail offers a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and of the lake as well. Big Bear is a beautiful and very scenic area with a lot of outdoor activities to offer whether during the skiing season or not. The trail has a few inclines that can be difficult if you're not in shape or have any medical issues. Great place just to hang out as there are picnic areas around the lake. Can easily make a nice day out it. Plenty of near by trails as well that range from easy to more advanced levels.

Nothing exciting, but good if you're in the area with younger kids who aren't up to a mountain hike.

If you are wanting a quick hike that is not challenging, this is it. For me, it was a workout! That was mainly because my son (aged 8 and has special needs) decided 1/2 way that he was not going to walk. I had to carry all 70lbs of him out. That said, even then, the hike was doable.

What a great easy hike, dog friendly, kid friendly and you get rewarded with a nice view of the lake at the end

Beautiful, peaceful hike. If you’re driving towards Big Bear Village on 18, the parking will be on the left side of the road, and then you have to walk BACK 150 feet to find the trailhead on the right side of the road. First mile up is a climb, but later on the trails start turning into easier roads.

This trail is perfect for all skill levels. We just wanted a more leisurely hike and this was perfect. It Has small “rolling hills” that would make it perfect for trail running too.

Easy trail, beautiful views!

Nice little short hike. Nothing too steep, great for beginners. When you reach the parking lot at the end, you can take a short detour to the right to a steep incline to a nice view on the rocks

Love the PCT! Nothing else like it. Very pretty views.

It’s not clear where the Trail for Crystal Mountain ends but it offers amazing views of the Mohave.

Good little hike, go when its cooler weather.

Great hike, kid friendly. Very beautiful views and mountain scenery.

Cool little hike takes me like 30-45 mins or so great view of the Lake ! love this trail its a great workout going up hill and then down. Good for training for bigger hikes..

Great hike with the kids (9 & 12 y/o). Grabbed a map at the parking lot and took turns reading about each of the 16 markers.
