This park is lovely, but has many invasive grasses and mustards that need to be removed. The smaller trails are terribly overgrown. They are currently filming (probably at night) through Dec 2019 and there are security guards everywhere.

Lovely green winding trail. we branched off a bit and walked the actual FRANKLIN CANYON RD after the actual trail ended. but when on the actual trail its lush & full of pretty trees and bushes. lovely little walk about an hour. we extended the trail to the road and back. also a set of pretty stairs that have a little of an incline which gives you a little challenge heading back up. theres plenty of spots along FRANKLIN CANYON RD. to park so that's not a problem. definetly an easy quick trail with great views and gives you an escape from the city ot was honestly shocking to be in the middle of the suburbs

We love this trail. It is so close to the city but in a beautiful wild area. To follow the trail one needs the full version where one can download the map because there is no internet reception.

Part of the loop isn't accessible. Either due to wash out or the production that's happening right now.

Great trail for beginners like me. A little more developed than I was expecting but the second half of the loop was a bit more natural. Also really cool that there’s a lake in the middle of LA.

As others noted, this isn’t much of a trail - just a “path” around the UCLA campus. The trail map shown here is somewhat inaccurate, as at points it says you should be across the street where there’s no sidewalk and a 75 degree hill - for segments where the map doesn’t make sense, I just ignored it and tried to stay as close as possible. Other parts seemed to want you walking on the street shoulder rather than the dirt path a few yards in. This ended up being a nice walk and worked up a decent sweat walking fast. UCLA is bordered by some nice neighborhoods and I did the walk around sunset so I had some good views. Good way to learn the area a bit more too if you’re new like me. Won’t do it again most likely, but could see it being a good consistent jogging or dog walking path for someone living close by.

Nice simple not too tough. Bit car-heavy around the trails though so if you’re looking for a big nature hike this is not the one.

Just as an fyi...I got a $100 ticket from the photo endorsed stop sign about 4 years ago...it said I didnt come to a complete stop. They had a link on the ticket I received in the mail so I could see the video. You could tell that they speeded up the video for make it look like I didnt stop completely. Bottom line...I never paid the ticket and my credit, license renewal, insurance were never affected. Don't pay if you get one!!!! The Santa Monica Mountain Conservancy cannot enforce it.

This is a very easy and pretty flat loop. The loop just as it is described is a loop around the perimeter of the UCLA campus. I park on Veterans Blvd and start from there. Most of the path is simple city sidewalks with maybe a total of a mile in dirt path. Still it is a good workout if you just want to accumulate miles on your workout app. The biggest drawback to the path is the inconsiderate people who seem to think it is okay to leave their e-scooters all over the sidewalks. I spent a lot of my time just throwing these things to the side. I’m including a few pics because some have asked for them so they can have a better idea as to what to look for. This particular ‘hike’ really isn’t a trail as it is more a path around UCLA so don’t be fooled into looking for a normal hiking or running trail. Check out my pics.

Kinda buggy! No shade too. Don’t do the loop - just go up the main trail and back down. Brush is pretty gnarly.

This place is paradise. The lake; its gigantic shy turtles, branchy skinny trail, sometimes marshy crossing on one end and low bridge road at the other? Well it was like a second backyard for my twins when they were little. God we must’ve gone to that chunk of land – which we always just called ‘the duck pond’, though the ducks were only part of the fun - yes, we were there one to two times per week for years piled on years, sometimes just with the twins, or with a nest of their pals, or of ours, or everybody’s together. Those times were golden. We hiked around the lake, without fail, then came to visit the ducks. I’m sure they always loved to see us coming, poor things. ‘Duck pond’; easy to picture and remember when you’re three and four and five.

very crowded with more dogs than people. it's close to everything which is the advantage.

We parked at the top of Hillcrest Drive & Franlkon Canyon Park (only room for a few cars at the side of that road) and walked upward toward the private gate. Just to the left of the private gate is the trailhead, we hiked down to the picnic area and back up. Literally did not see another human on the trail. Quiet and beautiful.

Trails are well maintained, easy walk, lovely lake and turtle pond. The trails could use more signs although the app did help us stay on the trail but still the signs would have been helpful and watch out for the rattle snakes.

Beautiful and peaceful. However, the trail can be difficult to find. Loved seeing all the fish, turtles and ducks though.

Update on car burglary of 4/1/19. 4 Hispanics males were observed on video tape using our cards. These thieves were observed driving a rental car according to the detective assigned to the case. SO BEWARE of unsavory characters fitting this description. Hoping they’ll be arrested in the near future.

PS: if u go to the police after after u’ve been burglarized, go to the West LAPD. This park is NOT under the jurisdiction of the Beverly Hills PD. I truly hope these thieves are caught. Carry credit cards with you. The parking area is NOT SAFE.

THIEVES PARADISE!! STAY AWAY
