It was a great hiking trail but about a mile or so in it began to get more difficult. We climbed a lot of rocks and slid down some on the way back. There were a couple of bees that kept following us but we ignored them and they left us alone. Overall, it was a great hiking experience.

We hiked this trial with 4 kids ages 4-6 and 3 adults. Just watch your step because it is very rocky and the tiny rocks can make it slick. I would recommend hiking shoes with better grip but I did do this in my sneakers okay. Each kid had their own camelbak of water and it was a great adventure! We stopped a few times in the shade spots (not many) to eat snacks also. A terrific place to visit with kids if you are looking for ideas. May be too easy for a regular adult hiker but the views are worth it.
ALSO! directions end too soon as to where the trailhead begins. Keep going until you see a DISTINCT parking area on your right. That is where this trial begins.

Should be relabeled under hiking not an actual 4x4 trail

Very rugged but beautiful rock formations and colors.

Nice hike even for dogs. Stay in the dry creek and don’t take the trail right at the beginning. We did and had to climb down back in the canyon. Some climbing in the canyon where we had to help the dogs turned the hike to a little adventure. A harness for them was helpful. Out if the canyon we went a loop in the hills to watch the scenic view back to Barstow. There was no clear way but easy to find one.

The trailhead is in the middle of the one way Rainbow Basin scenic drive. The road is dirt but well graded. In areas it is bounded on both sides by rock with width for one vehicle only. The trail is not marked and you can make out many minor trails. Basically go to the streambed and hike up exploring any side branches of interest. The streambeds lead up into little basins that open up with some beautiful displays. Avoid this area in the rain as flash flooding would be a challenge in areas. Mileage will depend on how much you explore probably 2-3 miles.

The end is just a suggestion... seriously keep going past the end and you will be rewarded with another mile of unbelievable canyoning through a much more vibrantly colorful and ruggedly beautiful terrain. The extended version of the standard trail is what earns this review 5 stars, if you are only going to go as far as the marked trail it is a solid 3.5 stars. #LiveLoveWanderTribe

Great short hike on a crystal blue February. Highly recommend for the great rock formations. Disney has to have this place in mind when they developed the Cars moving and ride. #LiveLoveWanderTribe

Nice quick hike. Stay left and you get to go through a slot with a good sized cave. with a steep dry waterfall at the end. The slot canyons on the right are impressive but require some climbing to get into. I scrambled up the first 8-10 ft. ledge only to find another steeper section with less foot/hand holds. To sketchy in my opinion to go further without gear. On the hike up the canyon we stayed to the right and then took the left fork on the way back. (Right turn since we were headed in the opposite direction).

This trail hike had beautiful scenery. After about a mile in it took a turn to more difficult, so it appeals to most skill levels. At this point some climbing was incorporated and caves were ready to be explored. My Husband and I did 4 miles and didn't finish. It looks like you could make an overnight or few day trip of it. It is located with a campground so bathrooms are available at the beginning of the trail and it was easy to find!

Blown away by the epic views and multiple playgrounds in camping area for the kiddos! Very large camp with good amount of privacy at each site.. a lot of bees buzzing around so if you have bee fears I'd stay away.. they are all friendly but defiantly join you at camp... hiking trail leaves from the back of the grounds

A beautiful trail to go to in the late winter and spring. Lots of green and flowers, for the desert that is. Even had some running water which is rare. Trailhead starts right at the campground and there are a ton of options to break out and scale the sides of the canyon to get some great views.

Sunrise over the Mojave. Absolute must. The road was completely desolate. I parked and just listened to the silence.

Great to get here early, to get pictures of the sunrise, and of the mountains.

I've camped here twice within a few weeks of each trip. Some of the tent areas are okay but others are on a slope and with no wind protection. The area is a ton of fun for night hikes though. Five friends and I managed to hike to the edge of rainbow basin and back in just under an hour just after it got dark. I'd recommend this area for the hikes but not the camp ground.

Fabulous, 2 miles of a lit bit of Zion Nat'l. WE saw two tortoises and explored a cool cave. Going back to do two slot canyons. This is best done in the fall. Make sure you take walking sticks, alot of climbing and classv 3 caving.

This is my review on the Magnificent Mile in Chicago, IL.
I just came back from a amazing trip from Chicago and I walked the Magnificent Mile. I thought that the sites were amazing and I just could not get enough of the sites. I took over 5oo pictures of the sites and I will never forget the scenic route that I decided to take instead of riding public transportation.

Well, I am stationed out here in Ft. Irwin, CA. Therefore, I am 31 mi. from Barstow. So, every time I leave post, I drive pass the Mojave Desert and I train out here. Therefore, it does not look like a desert out in Iraq some where and there are a lot of mountains. Plus, I think I have out done my camera with all the photos I have taken.
