Avalon, Catalina Islands main town, is only one square mile in size and everything is within easy walking distance. In fact walking is the preferred mode of transportation. Outdoor enthusiasts are welcome to explore Catalina Island on foot. Hiking and biking permits are required. Accessibility: The trail surface is paved with concrete or bricks and typically at least six feet wide. The estimated grade is mostly gentle (all 5% or less) so will likely be traversable for most wheelchair/mobility equipment or stroller users.Show more

A nice easy loop trail for people who visit the airport, with great views of Black Jack Mountain and Cottonwood Canyon As its name implies, this hike loops around the perimeter of the airport. This is a nice easy trail for people who visit the airport using the Wildlands Express Service or if you are looking for a break on the Trans Catalina Trail. It takes you past the ponds on the north side of the airport and the Soapstone Quarry. There are great views of Black Jack Mountain above, and Cottonwood Canyon below. Plus, be sure to stop by and enjoy lunch at the DC-3 Gifts & Grill after your stroll.Show more

Take a short trip to Cottonwood Beach and explore the unique land and seascape Not far from Little and Shark Harbors, Cottonwood is less accessible and more private. Scoured by seasonal waters running through the watershed, Cottonwood offers a unique land and seascape. There's even a small waterfall that runs in the rainy season. You can hike here on the Trans Catalina Trail, over from Little and Shark Harbors, or you can schedule a ride on the Safari Bus from either Avalon or Two Harbors. You can find these services listed here.Show more
