The Bison were right next to the trail which was awesome to see.

Nice trail, not much shade except in the morning. Beautiful views of the island and the California coast. We only did about 6 miles up the trail. Beautiful sunny day.

Lead out to the beach from main road. On the other side of sharks harbor, there is a small trail. It may be part of the same trail. It's a steep incline, but easy. Grassy. No shade. Very short. Easy to do with little kids, but don't use a stroller.

This isn’t quite a legal trail - it’s private property. But it’s beautiful!

Same trail used by the off road Segways!

This is a beautiful trail. I saw a lot of foxes along the way. It is very sunny; however, there are shaded spots. Utilize them as you come upon them. The area is known for bison but I didn’t see any. I did a lot of stopping along the way and didn’t utilize the pause option therefore it appears it took me a bit longer than it should have. The trail is steady incline of 1500+ feet and it’s very hot...bring lots of water!

A very easy hike. It ends with a boat campground at Descanso Beach and the boat campground where you can rent kayaks, paddle boards and zip line. It is all paved. Really, just a city walk.

Bridge is out on trail due to flooding. Trail not marked so follow the coordinates in the app.

I would like to recommend this trail more like paved walk way for anyone who many requires the use of a wheelchair. It is very flat most of it is pavers or bricks. It is lite at night. Porta potty located in the back of casino. If your looking for a shower their are showers for fee along this route. This route takes you to casino point with view's of the harbor. Casino point is a famous spot to watch snorkelers & scuba divers or free divers. At night sometimes you'll see lights illuminating the water by scuba divers. On a clear night you can see the stars from here.

This trail is absolutely fantastic right now after all of the rain we got. It’s greener than it’s been in a long time.

Spent a few days in Catalina a couple of times. Biggest surprise was car controls and lack of sand. This is a nice little crowded walk... The best scenery on this one was all the beautiful boats that are moored in the bay.

This is not a hike just a city visit. To see the beauty of the island please escape all the idiots on their golf carts and go explore the real hiking trails, where animals aren't scared away by noise, drunk tourists and loud golf carts. The city is cute but you have seen it in an hour. Go up the hills or in the water and the real beauty reveals.

We stopped at Catalina Island while on a cruise. The island was fun to explore and had a lot of different activities. We rented a golf cart and drove it around the island, went snorkeling at Lover's Beach, walked along the boardwalks to a variety of different shops, and rode bikes as well. Lots of fun activities.

This is more of a casual stroll than a trail. It is quite nice and scenic. I only recommend a single daytime stay in Avalon unless you like to party.

I have been here several times over the last few decades. It's a must see for first timers, but once done the real adventures begin at Two Harbors. My view, who needs Hawaii, we have Catalina and the Channel Islands.

Sid this hike 8/24/13 mid-day. Great hike if you fly out and want something to do without having to go into Avalon or Two Harbors. It was hot and there is no shade so take some water with you. Great views of the island. There is a shortcut at the end of runway 22 that lets you slip through a cut in the fence and puts you back on airport property.

The Airport Loop Trail is a really easy walk around the Airport. A really interesting part of it is the soapstone quarry. The Native Americans carved out bowls and other utensils from a soapstone outcropping. Soapstone is very soft. But because it has a lot of talc in it...you can put a soapstone bowl over the fire, and it won't crack. Apparently the Indians, 8,000 years ago traded these bowls with tribes on the Northern Channel Islands and on the mainland.
