This is likely an interesting and pleasant walk for some, but the trail was so sandy that it was just a pain to run. The trail was also a bit confusing.

A good challenge if running the trails. It is steep and there are some places that have loose gravel. For this reason, I don’t love the main loop. Otherwise, it has a local plant garden at the base, which is fascinating. It is a pretty trail with 360 view of Atascadero at the top.

It also has an interesting history. Back when Atascadero was a tent city, the residents used to watch movies there and the hills would serve as stadium seating, hence the name.

This trail is seasonal because you have to cross the creek. Be sure to double check their website to verify before you go. It is a very well-maintained trail dotted with charming bridges. The trail is mostly uphill with switchbacks. There is a gate near the top that expressly prohibits mountain bikes from reaching the summit. The summit affords a nice view of Atascadero.

The parking lot is difficult to find. There is another entrance that people are not encouraged to use. It is directly off of highway 41 just outside of Atascadero. Parking there requires that you cross the highway. At this entrance you will not hike the entire trail. I recommend starting at the trailhead.

This is a fun, shady and well-maintained trail. It is fairly short, but always a challenge because of some steep hills. It has a nice view of the golf course on one side. This is an equestrian trail so be careful of the horse poo along the way. If you enter on the Curbaril side, there are some bars on the first section of the trail that may be difficult for a stroller.

So this was my first time out on a trail. I was told this trail is a “lung buster” but is a good for beginners. And That it is!! I did end up walking up a few of the hills witch I expected would be the case. As a newbee I enjoyed it and know I have a lot of room to grow on this trail.

Great trail. Very scenic. Parking is hard to locate though and not very many spots.

nice trail. less than 2 miles. baby wear over stroller as there are steep parts as well and 3 metal bars on the ground that the stroller couldn't go over. lots of up and down hills. pretty scenery. was super easy for my 4 years son! dogs on a leash, and our Ranger loved the trail!

this is a beautiful and well maintained trail. plenty of gain for training purposes. excellent views too!

Great trail so well maintained. Finding the trail head is challenging. Take San Gabriel off Morro Road and follow trail signs.

A nice afternoon walk if you’re short on time. There are some spots that are a little steeper, but it’s a well maintained trail. There is a cut-over if you want to cut the trail in half. At a medium leisurely pace it took about 45 minutes for the 1.7 mile loop. Lots of dogs, some off leash (boo), but overall not too crowded. Easy parking at a well marked trailhead off of the dead end street of Cortez. A decent outing.

Wow great hike. Very hard to find the trail head. Be sure you go off Carmelita avenue and not Morro Bay road. If you are off Morro Bay road there is a road before a bridge and if you have 4 wheel drive you can get to the trail. There is a parking lot and you will know you made it

Not moderately hiked. I saw one family, one lady with a dog, one group with two dogs, a mom and child, two teenagers and an old man about every 20 minutes. You can hear the highway through the trail.

Great for a dog walk

hurt my foot .

because lots of fox tails . nothing pretty. lots of homeless. n stoners . trashy. . they need to work on the trails. graffiti . decent view at the top. nothing fancy. busy as he'll

If you want to get out and do a hike but don’t have a lot of time, this is the one for you. It is well traveled which is nice if you are alone, but not so nice if you prefer having a quiet hike. There are a lot of dogs and plenty of big groups. There were also multiple families with small children. Overall, it is a fairly easy hike with pretty views of Atascadero and surrounding mountains.

A beautiful little Trail that was built with a lot of Loving Care! The inclines and switchbacks were very nicely done. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a lot of great Trail markers for vegetation and Wildlife.

Had. a good hike. lot of people.

It's pretty good. gets busy

Definitely not good for our dogs- one of whom flat out refused to walk in the soft riverbed soil. Also, not a trash can to be found which made disposing of “doggie waste” not an option. We were looking for dog friendly and this wasn’t it. The only other dogs we saw were off leash and while they were well behaved, it did make me wonder if “off leash” was the norm there, which can just be inviting trouble unfortunately.

We are new to this (trail walking) and brought our 2 beagles. All 4 of us really enjoyed it. Beautiful even in early January. Easy trail to follow and good for beginners (and dogs!). We look forward to returning.

The length and terrain and views of this trail are all great! The only drawback is that the path is slanted, I suppose for erosion prevention, but for long stretches, is slants to the side. My ankles and knees didn't like that. I don't normally have issues.

Great views all around! Our dogs enjoyed it too.

Hiked with the kids on Good Friday. Easy loop. Enjoyed telling kids about the high school Bonfires we attended!
Hiked the same hills we 4x4 as teens. Spring time had lots to look at.

A little trouble finding the trail head, thank God for my son. Beautifully managed paths. Dusty, but well worth it. I recommend it

Nice wide and clean trails. Good for kids and dos!

Wonderful trail with great views.
