Dog friendly. Easy trails to hike. Fairly crowded early in the morning. Hot by 8am. No shade at all. Hilly and beautiful though. Might try to get here earlier next time. Would give this 5 stars if less crowded and if there was more shade.

This trail is pretty plain. There was parking near the entrance, and there were patrol cars keeping everyone on order. Overall, it’s a decent hill climb fallowed by all downhill until the end. The path is wide, dry and most unshaded.

Not a summer hike, unless you do it in the morning/evening! I think I counted two shade trees total

I started at 1 pm on a relatively cool day. Following the Briones to Mt. Diablo Trail, Wall Point Road, Stage Road, and back to the Briones to Mt. Diablo Trail. Most trails are exposed except the Stage Road which is partially shaded. Most climbs are gentle. I did it in less than 4 hours. Overall it was a good hike.

Very hilly so you spend a lot of the hike going up a hill, just to go back down....then doing it again. Large exposed portion as well. Most of the incline wasn’t too steep so it is a good hike to go on if you are just introducing yourself to slightly lengthier hikes. Overall it was a good hike!

Parking lots open . Super hot 103 . Pool is closed . Lots of space and connects to diff trails . Saw baby squirrels , rabbits , catfish , ducks oh yea and 2 coyotes that didn’t seem to be too scared of people . They were right at the beginning of the trail going in and out of the tall grass looking at us then eventually making their way on to the trail . We warned others but they said they always see them and the proceeded to walk with their young children towards the trail .

This is a great hike. However the parking lot at the trailhead is closed for Covid. You can park at the lot below but it's important to know this is almost a mile away, so it will add about 2 miles to your hike. There is not much shade so wear your hot weather gear like long sleeves and pants. We hiked this mid May and should have had long gear. Not sure about other's trouble finding the caves. We found at least three caves on our counter clockwise hike! Really cool!

Got to the trail around 830, Followed the trail CCW, was largely exposed and hot, but not a lot of intense gradients, so it was kinda easy on the joints. Surprised at around mile 5.5 it became kind of shady and a pleasant temperature as we hiked along the river bed (at some points you have to actually cross water). Last 3 miles was HOT but there was a pleasant wind. Wrapped the hike around 1400. Would definitely do it again, and want to come back in the winter. Only downside was I was bitten by a fly twice.

The fire damaged a large area of the platform walkway and boards are cut and have to walk off the platform. Homeless leave trash at the end of the trail by the waters edge. Be careful some parts of the trail are tight and get poked by blackberry bushes.

5/2/2020...Nice trail ... a couple climbs right from the start but nothing menacing as it evens out so you can catch your breath before the next one ... beautiful views once you get to the top and very scenic throughout ... a few folks on the trail that day but mostly private & well laid out .. did run into a fairly large rattlesnake but he was minding his business and so was I. Took me a couple hours but I stopped on and off to take some photos.. nice workout if you just smash through it...given that it’s a loop ... that downhill at the end works those ankles so hiking boots are handy.
