Steep at the beginning then flattens out. Kinda crowded at the bottom but cool hike.

Pretty equivalent to walking up stairs for an hour. They way down can get a little scetchy but it’s totally worth it.

We hiked from parking lot to just under the freeway. Was about 4.5 miles. The flies are huge and they bite. Bring bug spray! I personally would not hike this in the summer. Gets very hot once you leave the shaded areas. NOT a flat hike. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous though.

Lots of rocks! I noticed them more coming back down. Should have brought my poles for the descent. Decent view at the top. More of a feeling of accomplishment than the destination. It's definitely a push to make it to the top. Make sure you continue on a bit, once you pass the arrow. There's a cool rock windbreaker at the end. No shade, all incline, lots of rocks so watch the ankles, and hard on the knees (for the descent).

Beautiful kid friendly trail with lots of wild flowers. Very peaceful and a good warm up hike

Let me start by saying one of my favorite hikes! Although BRING BUG SPRAY! I never thought I needed it up until today. You will have swarms of flies and horse flies biting you, getting caught in your lashes and buzzing past your ears. But once you get there jump in! The water is refreshing and you’ll make friends with all the dogs and people.

Did only first 4 miles, but was gorgeous. Perfect mix of shade, sun, and water. Beautiful, beautiful trail. Bit overgrown, but definitely ok with long pants.

One of my favorite trails! But can't go back yet--it's explicitly mentioned in Forest Order 02-20-12, dated April 29, 2020, as closed through May 15: https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd731614.jpg

is this trail still closed and fines given or is it open to the public with social distancing still in place?

Steep incline the entire way and it was really tough on a sunny day. It was only 78 degrees out but we ended the hike sunburnt & tired. There’s absolutely no shade on the trail so pack approximately. We packed 2x the amount of water we normally need. Great hike for views but approx. 50% of the path was loose rocks so that make it more difficult. I would not recommend bringing children under 8-10 on this hike.

No indication this trail was closed. There’s actually no markers on the road you drive down or at the trailhead. There’s a small parking area on the left across from the trailhead. No markings along the trail but it’s a clear path and easy to follow. Very steep, straight shot to the top - basically 1.5 miles of climbing stairs. Great view from the top!!
