Done this trail 5 times, summitted three times. It is a fun one! Very steep at 1000 gain per mile, but the views of Agoura are great! Some good rock climbing, but there is a trail that goes around the major climb, if you’re scared. Although this is an out and back trail, you can keep exploring the trail further down to Agoura road. I wouldn’t recommend it, because it is overgrown and steep.

Nice hike. Veryeasy and great views, there's the MASH area where the TV show was filmed..

Beautiful trail. Great mid-day hike because you are mostly in the shade. Doesn’t look heavily traveled so be prepared for some over growth resulting in stickers.

Beautiful views! Once you get out of the Western Town, it is great hiking and I ran into one person the entire time, on Memorial Day no less. I enjoyed myself!

Lovely hike, mostly shaded

Great little 1.7 mike out and back with some fun rock climbing at the end. Reminds me of wattles garden x2. Outstanding views of the surrounding towns, nice paths. Wear good shoes as there is loose gravel.
My one knock is road noise for most of the first half but you can block it out with all the nice views

Great views of Agoura Hills!!!

Went on hike on Sunday April 29 a group of 10 around noon. There were plenty of parking spots. Park rangers were there to provide information of trails. Considering weekend, not many people were on the trails. All hikers we met along the way were very friendly. We’ll definitely go back.

Beautiful, easy hike and fun to see the movie sets. However, a lot of horse poop along the trail.

The whole family loved the trail.

nice short hike

Very crowded on a Saturday. Spent too much time standing to the side for people who are unaware of trail etiquette.

it’s a very good trail.

Well traveled, nice amount of shade. Groomed trail. Mostly flat with a couple steep climbs but nothing technical or difficult.

Not sure I would consider this a moderate trail. Steep incline most the way up, loose sandy dirt most of the way which makes it slippery both going up and coming down. A few narrow spots with drop-offs. Good for a workout that’s for sure. Would not recommend for children.

"Moderate" must have a different definition in the US vs the UK.... this is hard! But so worth it.... great workout and stunning views

I am a huge fan of Westworld and I came here for the pictures ☺️ love it!

200 ft from our car we saw a family of deer. Within 15 minutes we reached the top of a hill with a 360 degree view the grassy plain & mountains. We hiked a little bit further to the rock pool, which was refreshing even in the heat of summer. We spent a little too much time at the rock pool, so we didnt get to explore many of the other trails. If I end up in this area again, this will for sure be a stop.

Too easy

If you are a casual hiker, looking for a shaded trail to enjoy - this is not the hike for you. It is not an especially difficult hike and the views are enjoyable, but the path back down can be a bit tricky at certain points. I was glad to have my trekking poles for the return hike, but they were by no means required - just a nice thing to have.

Hiked at approximately 10:00 hrs - The hike is a steady ascent until the trail leads you along the south side of the mountain. From there it can get a little steep. Nothing too dangerous here, just watch your step.

Once you get to the peak, there are some magnificent views waiting. If you're into geology, the peak is made extrusive igneous (basalt) rock from the mid-Miocene Conejo volcanics. Crazy to think that you're looking at rocks that are estimated to be 14 million years old and probably started as submarine lava flows. The ancient Conejo Volcano is near the Pleasant Valley community in Camarillo. The rocks near the peak can retain a lot of heat, so in the middle of the day it can get very hot - so a morning or evening hike would be best.

As far as the trek back down, just watch your step! The grade can be steep at points and its easy to slip, but it's nothing too difficult.

Easy hike

I used my jogging stroller and it worked OK. I would do it again.

Awesome hike! It was extremely easy, and mostly flat. It was very scenic and parking is free on the Mulholland Highway. It was also very shady after dropping to Crags Road.

Mother's Day hike with my family. Beautiful mountain views, lush foliage and flowers.

The landscape is drying up quickly. The wild oats and wild barley (foxtails) still have some green. Saw some wildflowers but this hike generally has never been very good for wildflowers. There were some California poppies, morning glory, and some golden stars. The poppies looked well past peak. Nice breeze coming through Malibu Canyon. It was rather calm driving over but the canyons usually have a breeze when its warming inland and the coasts are cold. The breeze mitigated the sun which was getting hot.

This is a great Trail if you have kiddos. There is a lot to see and explore. The inclines are fairly easy as well too. Just be on the look out for poison oak.
