It’s a well-lit walk and nicely maintained. The earlier reviews from four years ago were correct but it has changed significantly. I would recommend to park in the neighborhood at the far north of the walk near the park and head south and back.

This trail has been on my list to go for about a year; finally decided to go. Parking was a little different, you have to buy your parking tickets online before going. There's no ticket attendant to sell you tickets to get in but there is a park ranger checking if you bought the ticket.

The trail wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be. I had thought the trail would be near water majority of the time but I was wrong. Overall hiking experience was fine, easy, small steep hills and plenty of shades from surrounding trees.

Waterfall is fun to watch as well. Although the waterfall didn't appear to be that big maybe because there was no snow or rain lately.

Attempted fishing as well but no luck. I fished at the two waterfalls in hopes that it was fish and it looks like it had fish but nothing was caught.

Snow has the road to Falls rather challenging to say the least. Lots of deep snow ... no clearance. hard ... need a 4x4 and good tires!

This is an excellent trail for an easy evening walk.
1. Scenic: The view of Bay Bridge and SF downtown is really nice. Reminds me of lakeshore trail in Chicago.
2. Easy access: the park is easily accessible and plenty of free street parking available :)
3. Friendly: People strolling/running in the park are very friendly to humans and dogs (perhaps not cats or reptiles, not sure).

Cons: Not a lot of water fountains :(

Short and sweet hike with greenery all around . Its an easy hike with not much elevation.

easy, paved trail with beautiful views. great for kids or folks with disabilities.

Great views of San Francisco and most of the Bay. Will be back again.

A lot of wildlife during the day. Not to pretty during the Winter.

can walk here for days. nice. whatever your mood for views, you can. pick a trail and see it.

Great! The loop is pretty short, and most could do it without difficulty. Steep areas. Crossing of rocks over a pond. There is also an option to walk on a trail that goes past the area with the large trees and hose and has a nice incline up to beautiful views. About 1.3 miles steep uphill incline - ends with private property and no trespassing sign. Both me and my dog love this trail.

awesomely for a relax time!

Very pretty, peaceful and tons of birds. It’s a flat, paved walking trail, so it’s very easy. A plus is that it is adjacent to another trail which is more moderate- The Double Peak Trail- it has a steep upgrade and some nice views. One drawback of both trails is that they are doing some huge construction nearby, building a new neighborhood. So that really interferes with the overall experience.

This definitely isn't a hike-- it's the sidewalk around the pond in the Harveston community lol but it IS clean, there's a park for little ones, nice and flat and sidewalk makes an easy go for strollers, you can go fishing, and have a little picnic at the picnic tables or even rent a little paddle boat. Nice little walk almost a mile around, good option when you're pressed for time, aren't looking to drive far from home, want to take the dog for a walk or just want to get some steps in.

Keep in mind there are many different routes you can take to get to the vernal pool trail, but according to the map the most direct routes are the 2.4 mi out and back from the vernal pool trailhead from the parking lot on Via Volcano, or the 4.8 mi out and back using coyote to trans preserve from the hidden valley trailhead (I started here). The surrounding trails on the preserve allow for choosing longer/shorter routes depending on what you're in the mood for. This side of the preserve, dogs/bikes/horses are not allowed (however it was clear there were definitely many dogs brought on the trail before because unfortunately there was a lot of poo left behind). Also note day use fee. Trail was super muddy and a bit slippery in spots today due to rain this weekend. Loved the boardwalk at the verbal pools, although it was dry (despite rain). So many crickets today, made for great background noise for most of the hike! Maps/parking available at trail head, port a potty available at the visitors center.

Beautiful trail for anyone from kids to elders, bikes

Loved this, very easy trail and super pretty. The bridges and the falls are soooo perfect. I would go back, for sure!!!

Beautiful! Easy access.

Did the full loop and it was a beautiful hike. I love how you can take the side trails that branch off the the main legacy trail. Just beware of all the horse poop!

Beautiful and scenic trail around a fairly popular park. We went around 2pm on a Thursday and passed about 5-10 people on our way, some adults walking dogs and some kids getting off school. I walked my boyfriend's dog along the way and found that there were some provided doggy poop bags, which was nice; there was even one doggy water fountain! Overall it was a very easy trail to walk and beautiful the whole way around!

If you want to see a waterfall but are short on time, this is one to see. Best time to go is in the spring/early summer when the snow is melting.
