It was just "alright." The trail is pretty hard to pickup after the Watershed Vista if you are starting from the Shale Pit. We just happened to find the next blue blaze when we decided to give up and head back the way we came, so- warning on that one. The vista for the river was the highlight and it is beautiful, so that made up for our troubles. Seed ticks are REALLY bad. We discovered we had them while going down the highway and had to pull over for 15 minutes to try to get them off. Bring duct tape for them!

Great couple of spots in the middle of the trail for a beautiful view. The one is the actual lookout with benches and railings. Somewhat strenuous; take water.

The yellow/white trail to the stairs was a bit difficult to navigate. If you're not sure where to go, try looking for the next marker across the river! This place was incredible!

Seriously one of the Best trails I've been on. If you're looking for adventure, you've found it here! Note towards the end of the trail there are 4 rope lines you must use to get up to the bluff. Once you reach the bluff, you will scale the side to the left. There is a little hole you must pass under then climb just a little more before reaching the Eye of the Needle. There is also a cool little cave just off to the right.

Fun trail! Took me 3 hours. I ran some. The bluffs are beautiful. Great morning hike. Today there was thick fog until about 9:30 but it had cleared by the time I got out to the bluffs. Awesome views. Easy-moderate trail until you get near the bluffs. Then you just have to watch your step. Nothing crazy, but pay attention. Some slick spots. The first half off the trail is smooth enough to run a lot. If you're going out before most people (I didn't see others until 10) bring a stick to clear spider webs. There were a lot.

Great hike with challenges and rewards galore. Beautiful and secluded swimming holes and lots of wildlife along the way. Many people have left trash at campsites, which was depressing. Why if you love nature enough to hike out to a pristine forest, would you then ruin it with your garbage? Otherwise, a stellar experience.

Great trail! Ticks were bad, and the campsites are all gathered pretty close together.

This site only shows a portion of Lake Oachita Vista Trail, which is actually a much larger loop trail. There are several trail heads. We hiked from Homestead trailhead to Tompkins trailhead and continued to loop back to Homestead. Pretty, quiet, very green, lake views, several benches. We would rate this trail level of difficulty as moderate.
